Color of coolant???

Hello everyone, I have a 2001 Lightning. My friend just traded his s2000 for a 2004 lightning. My colant color is green and His is a yellowish color. Did Ford change the colant type, because the dealer said thats how is supposed to be. He only has 11,000 miles. thanks for the info

I have an 03 and the coolant is yellow as well. I'm not sure at what year they switched coolant colors but your friends is the correct color for an 04. It's Motorcraft Premium Gold and when he buys a gallon of it he will know why they call it "GOLD".

In 03 they changed to the Gold. My 02 has the good ol' Green in her.

yep, the changed to "Gold" for alot of Ford vehicles in 2003, mine had the gold. It's SUPPOSED to last longer, but after a short period of time, mine looked dirty and closer to tan or brown than "gold". so I drained it all out (including the block) and replaced it with traditional "GREEN"

the two are not supposed to be mixed.

later,
chris

Seriously, same heads...the Green is okay

I have a 03, and I switched to the Green when I installed my new motor about a year and a half ago.

so you're sayin that the 99-02 heads are made from different aluminum material than the 03-04's? The "green stuff" will not harm 03-04 heads.
