Quick Question on Blower & Belt

Hi Guys,

I am about to fit a new upper pulley & idler kit. Just in-case time gets away from me can our trucks be driven short distances without the blower belt fitted. I think this is the case but not sure. Tried to do a search on this but gave up. Its a 2003 HD. TIA.

Here's a link to a few pics of my RHD Conversion to suit Australian laws. Cheers.

Yes they can be driven with out the S/C belt. I have driven mine about 10 miles before with out it. Out messing around one night with the stock eaton and my big pulley with no chiller box. S/C got so hot it locked up and the truck died. I stoped removed the S/C belt restarted it and drove it home.

Peace,
Suavy

Thanks Suavy, Should be fine then - I hope I don't have to drive it that way anyway.

like suavy said it will run just fine without the blower belt. I drove my L without the supercharger for about a month due to a idler locked up and froze on the shaft it mounts to so i had to buy a new idler mount and new idlers

It will be fine to run without the belt. The supercharger will even spin from the vacuum of the engine when revved. It will be very, very dogish. Be sure not to drive it too far, we don't want those Dodge boys posting kills from a L without its supercharger belt.

Thanks for the info. Good to know. Finished the new upper pulley install & its ALL GOOD.

This is what I have just finished fitting to my truck. Dial_Ur_Boost Non-Slip Interchangeable 2.76" S/C Pulley & the Billet Idler Pulley & Bracket Kit. I have fitted a Gatorback belt. Hope it all hangs in there for a while. With a stock lower pulley I am making between 9 & 10 lb total boost now up from about 6 Lb stock. I put a SCT 1715 +4Lb tune at it. Feels quite strong off the line now. Still wont light them up when I stab it in the guts. What am I doing wrong? I don't want to be to mean to it but I would like to be able to make some smoke when I want to. Feels like these tyres just want to grip. I haven't tried giving it a boot full with a bit of brake control line lock style. How much do these trannies & diffs take. Should I just be mean & go for it??? Has anyone had any GOOD/BAD experiences with these actual kits from South Florida Pulley Headquarters???

Yes.

Even on a bone stock Lightning you shouldn't need to brake stand to get spin off the line. Before I started modding mine I could make a smoke show just by standing on the gas off the line. Hell man, you oughta be able to light em up from a 5mph roll on a stock truck.

Lay into her!!!

Hi Bootbox,

Thanks for the info. I should add that my ride is a 2003 HD. It's a little heavier that a L but it should still light em up though. Stuff it I'm just going treat it like I stole it for a ride & see what she really can do.
