AF1 problem

I installed on a 2000 Lighting no mods but dual flowmasters and it seems to be running slow, Just doesnt seem to pick up as fast or have that rumble all I did was install it everything lines up good and tight. I unplugged the battery and when done reinstalled. Could it still be in the learning phase??? Or does this require a tune with intake and the exhaust? Onl;y have 5,200 miles on the truck and changed the filter and cleaned the iac. Thanks

Is it the filter only OR did you install the MAF in the AF1 housing.

If you installed it in the AF1 housing then your meter isn't reading correctly.

MAF is the sensor that is tube shaped and has a sensor in it.

On some kits, you unbolt that sensor and install it in the new "tube". It screws uo a few things when you do it

I trying to understand what you installed.

Is it only the filter.
Or
is it a filter that connects to the Stock MAF and has a tube that goes to the throttle body
Or
Is it a filter that connects to a tube that goes to the throttle body. (removing the stock MAF sensor)

you also want to make sure that the stock IAT1 sensor is clean. (it is the sensor that was on the SIDE of the stock box.. That sensor measures the incoming air temperature.

The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is the sensor that is in a tube (either 90 or 80mm in diameter (depending on year of your truck)). It bolted on to the stock air box and the other side attached to the rubber boot going to the throttle body.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SES (check engine) LIGHT THAT IS ON?

(dbl check your stock vacuum hoses and lines)

Ok I installed this
http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...atalogno=16414 I bought it about 2 months ago and just got around to installing on my 2000 lighting. No lights on and all connection are tight and good, does this require a tune because somethings not right.

okay...
One thing I'd do is unplug the battery and turn the lights on for about 10 mintues, to assure that all the "juice" is outta the system.

Recheck your rubber boot to see if the vacuum hoses are attached and see how much oil is in there. Oil gets sucked into the rubber boot.

The filter kit shouldn't be causing the problems you are describing. To me it sounds more like fuel having a hard time reaching it's destination. Perhaps a Fuel filter change is required. It's cheap and easy (under drivers door on the inside of the frame.)

It's popular.

What exactly is your truck doing? Feels like it is losing power? Has the weather Been hot and humid?

These trucks run completely different in different weather.
