KB spraying oil

The other day I was at the track, and I noticed that my hood and surrounding parts had the blue KB oil on it. I thought I might have just overfilled, and it pressurized and blew out. I cleaned the parts and decided I would check it later and see if it did it again. Today I raised the hood and noticed the thing, checked the KB dipstick and was not overfilled now, nor did it appear to be overfilled the first time. What gives? Anybody have any idea?

Matt

I spokw with a guy that had a KB on his cobra. It was covered in oil. He saud it was the "early style" snout and that he needed to get the new style????

Matt, can you see where it's coming from now that you've had a chance to look at it in the light? It was dark the other night at the track and I couldn't see $#!T. There has to be a hole or something, right?

A hole? Not that I can see. I still think its coming from the oil fill hole.

It's the Cobra KB's that had the oil spraying problem. And like they said it was the earlier models that did this. Never heard of an L KB spraying oil. But the bolt in the snout is a vent; if you put your hand in front of it while running you will probably feel a little air coming out of it.

Mine had a drilled and pipe tapped hole on the top of the snout and when the boost goes up over 20lbs or so they will spray gear oil our of that plugged hole.
First time I noticed it was when the the boost gauge dropped 5lbs...gear oil on drive belt...it was like flipping a switch to low boost.

Mine sprayed oil out the vent one time and that is when I blew off a vacuum hose that was on the midplate driverside. You can see in this picture where the vent is. It is that small hole in the middle of that allen bolt on the pulley. Has not done it since...

The leak I'm talking about is the pipe plug about 2 to 3 inches straight back from the pulley.....you can just see it in your picture, the small silver looking plug.

Bad as L, How did you stop your problem? The oil is blown all over the bottom side of the hood and the upper plenum and pretty much all over the motor, it is pretty evident that the oil is blowing upwards because the majority is on the parts above the blower.
