Results of the 3 Predator pulley tunes, REVISED EDITION

Me and a buddy did some testing on the 3 predator pulley tunes (THE REVISED EDITION). All testing was done with approximately 96 oct. (didn't want to risk my motor with a tune I didn’t know). The outside temperature was around 70 degrees. I am around 440ft Elevation. Dataloggin was done via the predator, and A/F was monitored via AEM Wideband (before the cats). Mods: 4lb pulley, cold air, FTVB, Denso IT-22’s, and predator. Here is a break down of what we saw.

93oct pulley tune
-1st gear: 15 degrees of timing max. A/F 11.1-11.4, occasionally flashing a little higher, but no higher than 12.0
-2nd gear: 17 degrees of timing max. It flashed 17 right before redline. A/F was 11.1-11.4, occasionally flashing a little higher, but no higher than 12.0
-3rd gear: 16 degrees of timing max. A/F was 11.1-11.4, occasionally flashing a little higher, but no higher than 12.0

91oct pulley tune
-1st gear: 11 degrees of timing max. A/F was 11.1-11.6, occasionally flashing a little higher, highest I saw was 12.0, and it was for a split second, but no higher than 12.1
-2nd gear: 11 degrees of timing max. A/F was 11.1-11.6, occasionally flashing a little higher, but no higher than 12.0

87oct pulley tune
-1st gear: 7 degrees of timing max. A/F was 11.1-11.4, occasionally flashing a little higher, but no higher than 12.0
-2nd gear: 7 degrees of timing, flashed 8 right before redline. A/F was 11.1-11.4, occasionally flashing a little higher, but no higher than 12.0

Looks like Diablo got their stuff right this time. I will say I had the ability to run the old predator pulley tune, and did just fine. Hope this helps some of you guys in the future. It also has all of the features that James at RWTD said it would. Also, has a lot more datalogging features as well.

If you have any other questions, just ask, and I will help if I can.

How did I miss the "Diablosport finally releases good tunes" thread?

Yes, thanks for the data. This is very useful. I don't live anywhere close to a dyno. So a custom tune is very hard to get. I haven't had a chance to download, "THE REVISED EDITION." But I will very soon.

One question, you made this statement. "I will say I had the ability to run the old predator pulley tune, and did just fine."
So, you did test the old Predator 4lb pulley tune?? What were your results? Did you have to add any fuel? Timing? Thanks again! This is a very helpful post.

By this I mean that I was able to run this tune with no knocking ect. I was able to get away with it, but others on here have not been able to. I really only used it as a race tune, with a mix of 93 and 100oct. It had around 19degrees of timing peak, and the A/F was around 11.7-12.1(this is out of the can, and not modified, as well as the tunes posted above). I had an A/F of 11.0-11.3 or so, when I added all 10% to the old pulley tune. I also have info on the stock tune as well. I noticed in 1st gear the timing was a max of 14 degrees, and in 2nd gear a max of 12 degrees. The A/F was in the low 11's also.

Sounds good. Im going to download the revised tunes right now. My truck is a 2000. Think your test results will be in-line with what I will see in my Lightning? The 93oct tune looks really good to me

I think it should be close, but every truck is different. Also our climates and elevation are little different. I would get the A/F and timing checked somehow.

You have no idea how much trouble i've gone through trying to get a air/fuel reading
After visiting the 3rd different dyno in 4 months, I was ready to sell my Lightning
Im hoping these new, "revised" Predator tunes will solve my problems. If the tunes run good, and are safe, like your research shows, I think they will be good for me to. Im sure my elevation is higher than yours. So, wouldn't the tunes be a little richer in my truck? Obviously, without checking the air/fuel, I am taking a chance. I just don't want to throw down $500 for a wideband right now.

I would datalogg the timing, and listen for denotation, if the timing looks good, and you hear no denotation, you should be good to go. If you hear some, I would start adding fuel. If you really want to go through the trouble, you could run it hard, and then check your plugs.

interesting...

How do the new settings/files affect the transmission line pressure?

That's a great question.

If their pulley tune modifes the tranny settings, can those of us with an FTVB change those settings in the tune back to stock before putting the pulley tune on?

I am almost positive they turned torque reduction or torque management, off; however, you are able to turn it back on. I have not played with these settings yet, so I can’t give specifics. As far as line pressure goes it should be set at stock, with the user having the ability to adjust. As far as shift duration, I believe the only people that will be able to tell you this is Diablo.

I cannot speak for all vendors, but James at RWTD said it doesn't affect HIS tunes. I have not loaded my custom tune back in my truck yet, my custom tune is from James, so it should work just fine.
