help with kb setup

Hey guys I just got done upgrading my truck with a kb and it will not run for *****. I just installed the kb and set it up with the 4# pulley. Also installed 60 lb inj., 255lph pumps, ngk br7 at .032, and ba2400 maf with a xcalibrator street tune.
The truck ran great before all this was done, all new liquids and filters also.
The problem is it seems to idle ok but sounds like it's knocking just at idle, can it be very rich(11./1) and yet still knock?
When i roll into it in any gear it seems to bogg down and surge and have no power at about 2k to 3k rpms then clears up a little bit. Under decelleration it seems to want to die out after a quick throttle down.
I installed a wide band and it shows 11/1 at idle and 11.6 at the most. It immediately goes to 10/1 when i make any boost at all. The max boost I saw was 11.8# with the 4# and 13.5 with the 6# lower.
Oh yeah always run sunoco 94 and would get 12mpg. I just ran through the first tank after all this and got about 170 miles or 8mpg---ugghh! Pulled a plug and it was already pretty black.
It seems to run slower than my ported eaton that ran 12.8's at 108. $5600 and I get a bunch of boxes to put my old stuff into(sarcasm)!
Does it seem like my wide band is working right, and am I making full boost for the pulley combos?
Any help would be like the hand of god!
Thank You for reading this mess
Dan

Sounds like the new tune isn't set correctly for the larger injectors and/or the big air maf. Either will make it run badly or not at all. If you're seeing 11:1 at idle your maf transfer is off by a mile or the tune still thinks you're running 42# injectors.

I'm gonna have to say Jody is in the right direction with it being the tune. The a/f your describing and with the plugs being really black and also the fact surging is going away at 2k-3k when boost is coming in makes sense to me.

I just finished my truck on friday and we have almost identical setups and with a 5lb lower and a 3lb upper I see about 17+ lbs of boost. Check your tune first or contact one of the vendors here to have one made for you then go to a dyno. Good luck!

Jody nailed your problem more than likely. I tried mine once just fo the hell of it with 50#ers on a stock tune and it did just about what you said. Although it was able to pull the idle/cruise into the mid 14 range; probably the 60#ers are way to big for the computers fuel trims to compensate for.

Jody is correct - when I did my KB swap I installed the larger pumps 1st, then the KB with the boost set low, then took it over to the Shop/Dyno and had the 60Lb injectors & SCT MAF installed onsite. Then from there we started tuning on the Mustang Dyno, for the larger injectors, MAF, once that was completed we then upped the boost and perfected the tune.

It will run like crap until you get it tuned.

Hey thanks for all the replys guys. The truck still runs the same, although I have a little more info. When I isntalled everything I forgot to plug in the iat1 sensor into the airbox, and forgot to pull the old autologic chip out before flashing sal's custom tune on the comp. Would this have any effect on what the xcal would do as far as downloading my stock tune, or possibly downloading the chip's program instead? Would it possibly cause the xcal to mess up my comp? Anyway after realizing I still had the chip in I reflashed the comp with the chip out. After a drive it showed the symptoms in my previous post, this is when I found out about the iat sensor. The funny thing is it will run o.k just extreeeeemely with the sensor unplugged. When I plug the sensor in it seems to want to stall out and a/f is very erratic sometimes 15-16 at idle. I haven't tried to go any farther than light throttle inputs because the a/f doesn't drop very much if any, don't want to run lean! My question is with the iat unplugged is the comp in some kind of limp mode or on an aux. fuel table? It is so rich that after sitting for a minute there is a good spray on the ground next to the exhaust! I am so frustrated that I wish I would have bought a sct prp and tried to do it myself. Atleast then I would be able to adjust for any differences! Right now I have a 2 week old xcal that hasn't even done it's job yet, and it's already obsolete cause the new one will be out next week with datalogging. Plus trying to get sal to send me my file to use the extreme software is useless, as 3 weeks of phone calls and still no email let alone a phone call back with any help! Thanks!
Anyways--
I want to thank those here for the responses again. I am trying to get it tuned around here but finding time out from work is difficult now! Hence why I thought I would give a email tuner a try! Not so much luck there!
Sorry for these long posts but I have no other avenues to travel down for help!
Thanks again
Dan

edit: sorry for the run-on sentences!
