a couple things to try. run the brown wire to the key on spot. (or just hook touch the yellow and brown wires together) with the key on to see if the fan kicks on. if it does, then your therostatic switch is probably broken/defective.

does it come on with the a/c? you said if you put the green wire straight to the battery it comes on, that tells me you have it connected to the wrong spot. i saw that l-menace used a different place for his.

i used the mad enterprise kit (alothough it costs more i like the features), which i am very happy with, but it hooks up slightly differently. it uses a thermostatic switch on the condenser for the a/c, and two on the radiator. one that is adjustable for the low speed, and one for high speed if it gets too hot.

1. are both the Fuses good?

2. are you sure where you hooked it up in the fuse box has power when the truck is running? I'd dbl check it just to make sure, one of those fusebox prongs might have power, where the one next to it doesn't. takes 30 seconds with a test light. Sometimes it'll have power with the key turned to the on position, but then cut power when the trucks started.

I'll check right now. In the manual it says that particular fuse block spot (the one that the LFP taps into as well) is the "Towing trailer charger" or something to that effect. I always thought it was supposed to be a fuel pump relay or something of the sort, but I verfied it with 2 other trucks with e-fans and it was the spot for both my wires.

I'll see if it's hot and get back to ya.

Ok the 12V Ignition source is live on Key, and dead when the truck is off.
Seems to me like I wired it properly..

Matias,
we did all this on Sunday bro. Otherwise I would have called you for sure. I have a few more tests to try, but my fan is still at Her2001's house. I was so pissed and in a rush that I left it there..
I'll get to it soon I hope.

I hope you get this figured out - I'm waiting on the results so I can install my fan setup. This thread scared the daylights out of me, so I'm waiting until you figure it out. I can't afford to have my ride down for three weeks to figure out the wiring!

just something to check but most of the thremostat switched for efans ive seen and used are grounding switches. when it reaches a desired temp it grounds out the wire attached to it switching on the relay. just something to check the new kit i just got from lfp is wired this same way with the grounding switch only one wire travels from the relay to the switch.

why

everytime i see a post like this i have to laugh.

Newbies, let this be a lesson to ya. Just buy a plug and play fan kit from the tuners. JDM, JLP, PSP, LFP.............any of them.

It must suck to have your truck all apart and not have the fan work. Wasn't worth saving a few bucks. I saw it on one of my buddie's trucks first hand.

Wow. ****.

Just because a bunch of mechanically inept lightning owners trying to wire something on their own for the first time can't do it doesn't mean it won't work just as well, or better, than the precious tuner kits you push. Are you getting comission off all those efan kit sales?

my first wiring kit was junk, then I found the adjustable Hayden one. and got it working!

Personally, I like working on the truck, Being last year I drove it very little, I wrenched on it a lot chasing gremlins.

I have a few other things I want to do to my truck THIS year, but it'll have to wait until after July.

Do me a favor and do a search on electric fans and see the hundreds of post about people trying to wire up their own kits and having them not work.

I don't begrudge anyone for doing anything themselve for I do it all the time.

But with the kits that are availible, it MAKES NO SENSE to "have the life sucked out of you" over it to save some cash. If you ask me, playing with the fact that your engine could overheat, explode, or leave you on the side of the road to save 150 bucks, not to mention the absolute rediculous aggrivatgion i've seen people on here go through when it comes to these electric fan kits. I helped a buddy out with the same problem. He at least bought the wiring harness from JDM and tried to mock up his own fan in the shroud and THAT ALONE was enough aggrivation to realize he should have just bought the whole damn thing and it would have been in in a couple hours tops!!!

That is all.

Now I will ****
