Ground Effects Removal - Learned Something New Today

I just removed my ground effects to clean the underside of the truck. I was having a bear of a time getting the long ones under the doors to come off. I took out the bolts holding them up there and they still were attatched solid. There's these little plastic clips holding them on.

We'll I couldn't get those clips to release for anything. I struggled and pulled and forced and pryed. Still nothing. I came inside and used the Search feature on here. I browsed through my Service CD. Nothing. Finally I went back out and just used some sidecutters and cut the little plastic things in half. That got them off! Now I still had to remove the little clips from the holes they fit in. On the VERY LAST one I was taking out I saw right above it a large, rubber grommet with black tape over it!

I wondered, hhmmmm wonder what that's for? I peeled the tape back and flipped the grommet up and SURE Enough it was there just to get on the backside of those little clips!

Wish I'd have known that earlier! I should have asked you guys before I started my little project. Oh well. Learned the hard way. Now I've got to go buy about 20 little replacement clips. Anyone Know the Part Number?

How's it look? Kind of naked and up in the air without those ground effects.

Hope this info helps somebody else out.

My truck has never been rained on either, and it still gets dirty. Its just dirt/tar from the road.

I had a similar event happen to me..

I went to put my mud flaps on my truck, I had to remove a few of those little plastic clippy things... I got fed up with them and took some wire cutters to em'. I wish they were simpler to take out!

I tried to order some of the clips from my local dealer and was told that they are not sold seperately. Sounds dumb, but he said they only come in the package with the various spoiler pieces...
If you do find a part number, please post it. I could use a couple of them.

You can usually find those press in buttons and most other trim fastners, at a good auto body supply house/store. Artie
