Sylvania Silver Star ??

I just had my fogs replaced under warr' for the cracking. I have the Silver Stars in my headlights and I want to match the fogs with the headlights. I did a search and couldn't find any up to date info. Is the Silver Star fog lights for my 02 Lightning the 9005's? Do they just plug in like the headlight bulbs did?And has anyone had any trouble with them cracking or discoloring the lenses? Thanks Guy's

9005s are NOT the correct size but they will work. lots of people use them. you have to wiggle them into the housings as it's a close but not perfect fit.

9005's work fine. I'm running them with no problems.

So you guys using the 9005's haven't had any problems with the fog light lenses have you? I don't want the new ones to end up looking like my old ones. The new ones they installed today are not like the ones that came on my 02. The ones that came on my 02 had a shield over the bulbs, and the new ones don't.I think they are like the ones that come on the 03&04's.I guess i'm going to go ahead and try the 9005's out. Thanks guys!

I have been running the 9005's for quite a while. With no problems, however check the vent on the fog light housing and make sure that the one way screen is there and not solid tape. This helps to allow the heat to dissapate besides any moisture. My 01 has the origional fog's still. Knock on wood!! LOL Artie

I have been running 9005's in my 02 fog lights and the deflector in the center has turned brown from the heat. No cracking yet, but the bulbs do get hot.

The center deflector isn't going to take much more so I am going to have to update to 03 fogs.

When you wiggle the bulb in you tear the seal on the bulb and it allows water to get inside the light. I cut the plastic "tab" a tiny bit so that the bulb can just go straight in and not tear the seal on the bulb.

Well I went today and bought the 9005's and put them in. It was a pretty easy job, they went right in. I waited till it was dark outside and drove down the road to test them out, and man are those suckers ever bright. You can tell somewhat of a differance in the stock headlights and the Silver Star headlights. The Silver Stars have a whiter light than the stockers, and a small hint of blue. I wasn't near as impressed with the Silver Star headlights as I was the fogs. I like the Silver Star headlights better, but you won't see a big differance untill you turn those fogs on! I have the whole Silver Star set up in the front now, the headlights- park & turn signals and of course the fogs.I'm glad I bought all of the Silver Stars, they rock! Thanks guys for the input!
