Rear brake issues! Need help!

Well I installed new Hawk pads on my old rear rotors that I thought was fine after I sanded them with 180grit sand paper. I took it out for a ride ( 10 miles ) to seat the pads properly.
I noticed that when I got back that the pad was only making contact with the outer 50% of the rotor..WTF! So I pulled it all apart and took the rotors to a local shp to have them turned a and sure enough they were all out of wack!
Got them back and reinstalled the rotors and reinstalled the pads figuring they would be OK right? WRONG! Same *****! Still only making contact with the outer 50-60% of the rotor!
So what do I do now? The rotors are true and if the pads were hitting wrong due to the first install the would hit on the bottom from having wear on the top part of the pad right?

I need some advise before I blow my lid. This is not the only issue with my 03 L with 17,000 miles on it. Granted I'm a little rough on my truck but my problems are small stupid crap like this that drives me nuts.

don't worry about it that is one reason why you should turn the rotor. The rougher surface help them seat in faster. What is causing it is the caliper it is not square to the rotor. But the pad will wear into full contact shortly.STan

Yeah, they'll wear in..

I just changed my rears last weekend, and to seat them properly, i did a 1-2 burnout....no problems...

Cool. Filed away in the "good idea" file.

Here's mine: when I do road racing events, I pick up rubber chunks from the racing tires and other junk. So before I swap back to my street wheels, I give it a quick burnout, which cleans the rears in a second or two. Then, when I put the race wheels back on, I know which ones to rotate to the front (the clean ones) and then do another quick burnout to clean the other pair.
