boost question

I just got a KB the other day. I got a dyno tune for it, and while on the dyno, the guy that runs the performance shop called my attention to my boost gauge. During the run I was making 21 psi at the end of the run. Now I still have stock manifolds, but am runing no cats and a silver bullett exhaust. 4# lower, 3.00 KB upper. Is there a solid answer to how I am making that much boost? According to everything I have read, it should have been no where near that. BTW truck made 481/566.
Just looking for a reasonable answer, Im not going to run the truck like that anyway, ID just like to know how I made that much boost.

Stock heads and cam? I made about the same boost with the stock heads/cam, and exhaust at that ratio.

Yes, stock heads and cam. Most people I have read about seem to make a lot less boost with that pulley setup. Honestly, that amount of psi scared me pretty good.

you would drop 3-4 psi with a full exhaust and ported heads/cams.

Trying to swing a deal for some LTs now. Gonna wait a bit on the ported heads and definitely on the cams. In the meantime Im going to bigger KB pulley. I have both 3.25 and 3.50
