I am curious Marc. Did you have a 5.4 that spit a plug that you had to pay for?

"Keep suing Ford and I bet you will see a lot of newly developed vehicles, including SVT's in the future....NOT"

The year 2045 the now 77 year old man is drinking a beer with a friend thinking about the old times when cars ran on gasoline. "Hey do you remember that company Ford, that use to make vehicles. Then they had that ****ty cylinder head design that they got sued over and it bankrupted the company. They closed their doors forever". 79 year old friend says "Yes those bastards on that website f150online.com got that whole thing going, damn them all to hell, damn them all to hell........".

All people can ask is that when a Car Company CLEARLY has a problem, that they take care of it in some logical manner.
Fords idea of taken care of it was to do nothing year after year after year while they continued to use those heads when a simple set of inserts could have fixed any that were in inventory
""for pennys per cylinder"".

Instead they denied the prob for years "even know thousands and thousands of L's and other 5.4's were clearly spitting plugs as a result of THEIR SUB STANDARD design".

Chevy had to rebuild thousands and thousands of 4speed Z06 or other certain engine coded Vette "Motor's" (due to them burning oil). In most cases the customers were called and Chevy demanded they brought the Vette in for a free rebuild. In other cases they just did it without even asking if they had the Car in their possesion for other wrrnty work, like replacing the tranny for the third or fourth time in my Friend Joes case.
He started a war over it with them when he went there and found his motor and trans ripped out. They said to him, we called you, you refused to bring it in, it's leased, and it's getting fixed.

Wish Ford took that approach.....

I see both sides of the issue. Litterally.. I see both sides on a daily basis.

This would'nt even be an "issue" **if** papa Ford would have simply designed it right to begin with. OK.. so they had people who were responsible for the design who did'nt know thier butt from a hole in the ground. Welcome to my world.

An honerable man/company/person would take care of thier customer. (customer being defined as the original purchaser)

If Ford would'nt try so hard to fight people who this has happened to? Then we'd be talking about *when* our truck was going to be fixed instead of *who* is going to pay for it.

What a way to build brand loyalty papa Ford.

I'm a design engineer in Motown... and as far as I'm concerned this is only another reason to lean towards the concervative side of anything I touch.

Ya'll really wanna see me get cranked up? Then lets discuss **where** this stuff is being engineered.

Rich

I had a 2000 E250 with a 5.4 that spit a plug, it cost me $2300.00 (that I didn't have) to repair. I am in on the class action suit. Ford made a big mistake and they should pay for it. They only do recalls when it is something that could cost someone their life, and that is BS. They screwed up! They know they did! They should pay for it! NOT ME!

This quote speaks volumes. F#%k Ford for allowing this to happen. The top execs deserve to be shot.

I was just thinking (wondering) about that. Engineers are supposed to be intelligent enough to think about whatever
the standard minimum safe amount of threads are in a spark plug hole are, and if Ford hired these engineers, then they are ultimately on the hook. I don't feel sorry for Ford, as they are responsible for basic warranty things, like sparks plugs not being propelled out of the motor like a bullet......

If you have a warranty Ford should be replacing the head. If not, its class action lawsuit time.

We know its a design flaw and Ford should be replacing any head that spits on a warranty truck.

If the plugs stay in the head until after your warranty expires should Ford still be responsible for every 98-02 5.4 on the road for the life of the vehicle ?

So are you saying they shouldn't do any recalls either once the vehicle is out of warranty?

I'm glad that the people on our 4 month waitting list for the ordered Mustang don't think the same as you.

Peace,

Huh? Z06's only came with a 6 speed transmission (mn12 tranny), no autos, etc. I beleive the issue you are referring to are the 01's which had an issue with rings that caused excessive oil consumption (not all cars were affected). However, GM didn't recall all cars. I still had to have my oil level verified at 1k, 2k, and 3k to show that it was indeed affected by said problem. At that time GM would usually install new rings. Some dealers did replace the whole motor though. In any event, GM did take care of their customers and fixed the problem promptly. The 2002 z06 had no such problems, so if GM can do it why can't ford?
