Blown plug, and No grip Norway #2 *video*

Last weekend was the first of our street legal series over here.

We only race on 1/8th miles and on street tarmac, so therefore we always have problems getting a good grip in the first races (before the rubber is laid down. )

Anyway, we only managed to get 1 race before I blow a plug . I'm not sure if you guys (that not already have blown a plug), ever heard what it sounds like

So here goes: in the end of the 1/8th track you will see the truck really richi'n up (smoke) and then you here a small "clap" or "tap" or.... (right before my brother says Oyyy!!)

Sorry to hear about the plug, I have never blown one, and I hope I never will with my truck being an 03 and all. It looked like your truck was running great except for the tire spin and plug spitting problem. Hope you can get it fixed cheap.

get the timesert kit and go to town. You may not have to even remove the head. (depending on which cylinder it is)

May as well timesert all the cylinders to be safe.

How can FORD get away with this ?

I have a '99 83,000 miles and had FORD replace the plugs at 70,000 at the dealer.

I have not blown a plug "yet" but I am reluctant to invest a lot of $$$ into high-performance items just to blow a plug and get set -back with an old truck with still more plugs to be blown etc.

A real damper on the fun. I think FORD must have about 40
trucks have problems out of 24,000 sold and they will not help out.

Any count on the number of 5.4 engines etc. with blown plugs ?
percentage ?

This is a JLP build truck, so all the plugs in the top has inserts. This is because the original aliminium heads only have like 3 threads or something. Our ported heads have steel inserts with 8 threads. As a good tip, we should regularly check for loose plugs.

So I've just ordered some new (bigger) inserts from Johnny, together with new plugs and a coil set. Hopefully we will have it running again before our next race May 14.
