weird 'tink' sound when parking
Everytime I pull into my driveway, I step on the brake, put it in 'park', and turn the wheel all the way to the right. When I let off the brake, I hear this tinny 'tink' sound as the truck rolls back a tiny bit before the pin in the tranny stops it.
I can reproduce it often, although it tends to be when the truck is warm.
Has anyone else come across this? I'm trying to track it down.

You are resting the vehicle against the parking tang (pin) in the tranny. It will click or tick when it engages. A little more force on it and it will break requiring a tranny R & R to fix.
Always, always, always, set the parking brake first and then put the trans in park. If it rolls at all, it will find the pin to stop it. On level ground that is not a bad thing, on an incline, there is a tremendous pressure put on that little tang. The park brake will work the best with the least pressure if you park it nose downhill. The tang (pin) on most vehicles is pretty stout and will hold up to some abuse, but not for long. Kind of like putting 25# of boost through a stock 2002 L motor to see when, not if, it will break.
My $.02

Then again, if it's only happening when the steering wheel is cranked, it may be just dry steering stops or the dreaded 'CLUNK' in the left lower control arm. Do you have clunk washers installed?
I'd start by greasing the steering stops and checking for any movement in the left lower control arm. Check out my clunk washer install photos to see what I mean:

On the other hand, since "tinks" are hard to chase down over the internet, it could just be the exhaust heat shield, or cat cooling down.
That might explain why it can't be easily duplicated, different levels of heat when parking. Just come home after a real nice WOT different than a grocery run, no WOT.
Does it do it while the vehicle is moving slightly after being parked or are you out of the vehicle walking away?

Ok I just duplicated it again.
This time I pulled in, stepped on the brake, put it in 'Park', set the parking brake, cranked the wheel. It still did it. I don't believe it has anything to do with the pin. It sounds like the sound is coming from the front, perhaps the front wheel.
I didn't think about the tie rods and lower control arms. I know there was a maintenance TSB put out about it
Thanks guys!
