Picked up .3 with a Borla catback!

I really don't think it was all the cat back's doing, but that really is the only thing I've changed.
My stock block truck just ran 11.49 @ 118.2. My old best was 11.71 @116.1

Did I mention this is with my girlfriend driving.

Thanks. Ya I know. She used to ask me if I wanted to make a pass, now she is in the driver seat before the announcer is finished calling the class. HaHaHa

Let us know if you pick up another gen II.

That's the plan, If the motor makes it through the summer, we plan on throwing a Fox Lake motor in over the winter.

KB, 17#'s, RR 3.1" pulley, KB 9" lower, PSP fast air, SBTB, EFAN, SCT flip chip(16* street tune) SCT big air MAF, 255 pumps, 60# injectors, FTVB, Dante's 2600 Converter, QA-1's on front, JLP long bars, M/T drag radials 28", Bogarts, Stock f150 rims on the front, 225 tires on front, and now the Borla cat-back, All unecessary weight removed. Sway bar, hitch, winch, Bumper. I think that's it. The truck makes 473 hp 558 tq. On a very conservative tune. It also weighs 4400# without me in it

Congrats!!!

Impressive times. I am Jealous.

What kind of boost gauge do you have? We are running almost identical pulley ratio's (9" lower / 3" uppers) and I am seeing nearly 21psi at the shift. I think you would see atleast 19psi with the 3.1 and a true 9" lower.

Either way those are some sick times. I need to put my truck on a diet as well as my chunky butt.

Thanks. I couldn't believe it when I saw the times. But then backed it up with a 11.52 @ 118. I have an autometer boost gauge on my steering column. I have the KB cool crank pulley on the bottom and the RR 3.1 up top. The most boost I have ever seen is with the 3" kb pulley on top last fall and that was 18# with a completely stock exhaust.

Hey. Nice run!

How do you like the Borla? Do you think it can handle 10 second power?

I want something quieter but have come up empty.

There are / was 2 other KB Lightning's in my area with long tubes and very similar mods to yours. We all were seeing more then 20psi with 9/3 combo. Autometer boost gauges can very inaccurate from my experience with them. Im not taking anything away from your accomplishment, am but it seems to me that it maybe off as much 2-3psi of boost.

Food for thought anyways.

I will definately look into testing it. I never questioned it since it goes along with what the KB web site says I should be making.

I checked with another gauge and it read the same as my other one. What type of gauge do you have?
This table is almost exact compared to what my truck does.

I have high end japanese gauges called Defi's. They are fully electric and known to be VERY accurate. Here is a pic of the peak hold pic I took when I first got the KB on the truck with this pulley ratio. I was letting out just before the shift ~5200rpm or so when I saw this. When I took the truck to the track a week or two ago I was seeing peaks just hair under 21psi letting the truck shift out @ 5350-5400 or so.

Now I do have a accufab SBTB, C+L plenum, and a C+L hard intake pipe that maybe helping my KB breath more effeciently at this boost level. JL and some others have posted that if you are running the factory rubber boot and high boost (18+) that the pressure drop in the boot could possibly cause it to collapse some causing some restriction on the intake side of things. I dont know if your running the stock boot or not BTW and I have never witnessed this myself but I am just throwing that out there as a possible issue. I am going to do some dyno tuning on May 9th and I just may put the stock boot on it for a pull or two and see what happens.

The other thing to make note of on my truck is that my EGR system is totally gone along with the boost bypass valve and all. I removed all the unneccesary vacum lines and actually have a dedicated port on left side under the blower for my boost gauge, there is no tee in's at all. It runs right out of the manifold to the sensor that my boost gauge uses.

These are just some observations I have made over the years with regards to boost gauges and there accuaracy, or lack there of sometimes. Let me know what you find out and if the boost goes up if you make any changes to the setup.

I know that in my case w/ an apten blower I made 14lbs w/ a 4lb lower, and then I got a c&l upper. It gained me about a lb, to a lb1/2 of boost. I now am usually at 15.5 at the top of the gear. Maybe w/ ur kenne bell you gain more boost by adding the C&L? Just food for thought?????????

Thanks for all the info Bob. I never thought about the boot thing. I am still running it, and refuse to pay $100 plus $ for a tube of any sort. I will have to quit being lazy and make my own. I don't think t's in the system should make a difference in readings, and am not sure how much the egr delete changes things, but My truck is running perfect and I have the fuel and meter to support more boost if i am actually running it. I am am only making 470 whp and ran 11.49 @ 118. I'm Very happy. What is your truck trapping now?

Screwed -

I dont get to the track but a few times a year, we only have a 1/8 mile track here so it sort of sucks. I did get a chance to borrow some slicks a few weeks ago and make 3 passes.

Setup that night:

Full weight minus the hitch and spare with a 170lb driver (best pass - Casey02L driving)
Email tune. 15deg of timing. 10.9 - 11.1 A/F - pump gas
20ish PSI of boost.
Leaving off idle
Marginal air quality 70deg out

The best of the 3 runs was.

60ft 1.7169
330ft 4.9259
1/8 et 7.6221
MPH 90.31

My calculations put that run some where near 11.80 - 11.90 @ 116. We are going to get this thing on the dyno on May 9th to dial in the street tune and develop a race gas tune for it (18-20deg). I am unsure if it will stay together with much cylinder pressure but I am willing to risk it. It just money, you cant take it with you

The last pass would have probably been the best ET of the night but I spun all the way thru first gear and a little bit of second and it still went 7.68 @ 90.00mph. Next time I go back I will experiment with the launch some more and have better tune. Casey and I both think the truck has some 7.40's in it.
