CUX1 and CUX2

I have a 99 L that had a CUX 1 pcm. I have a replacement that Ford sent me that says CUX 2.......

will that work? do I have to go to the dealer?

can they flash it to either?

The cux2 is a '00 code. Lots of dealers reflashed 99's to cux2

my 99 was reflashed to cux2
