Angry Someone Stripped my L!!! Pics!!

Well I came out yesterday to my beloved Lightning and saw this:

I was horrified. My pride and joy had been stripped like a drunk Freshman during rush week. The chairs were gone, the trim panels were toast. Wires for my stereo were just dangling outside the cab.
I ran inside to call the cops and when I came out, it seems those b&Stards came back for more and stole my frickin' carpet!! The ****** Gall these hooligans have!!

Needless to to say I'm devastated...........

and also a complusive liar hehe.

Actually, we just got done "Fatmatting" (aka Dynomat) my L for it's new stereo I'm working on. Took about 4 hours start to finish, and man does the truck seem quieter, and more solid. It's funny that your ears actually pop a bit when you shut the doors (sealed them too). Well, here's what we got done.. Just waiting on the sale of my wheels in the For Sale forums so I can finish purchasing my amps. I decided music was more important to me than 22's.

Looks like you covered over the vents in the rear of the cab

I bet the doors are harder to close now ...

If I were you I would open up part of each vent ...

THink about what heppens when the airbags go off
The pop you felt in your ears when you close the doors will be 1000x harder and will likley be the last thing you hear....

Doug,
I've heard the same, but a TON of noise gets through those vents IMO. I drive 99% of the time with my windows open so equalization shouldn't be an issue.. I hope..

Hey Doug, which vents do you mean? I plan on trying this myself this summer. Thanks.

I did the math on the full volume of the airbags and your ears will be fine.

If the airbags go off, you'll feel it in your ears, but not enough to do any serious injury.

That being said, a vent is always a nice thing just for fresh air.

Someone did that to me once too!

What made me even more upset was when I came outside to find someone had sanded off all the paint, covered it in primer, removed the fenders, removed the hood, took the bed off the frame, took out the windows and door handles and interior, as well as removing the rollbar, nerfbars, brushguard, and bumpers! Man some thief spent a lot of time ont hat, don't know how they did it without waking me up!

Your air cold should not blow as hard with those holes closed off...At least that is what I have heard.

I'm with Doug on the explosive force of the airbag
deployment. That's what those vents are for. Don't
take a chance on losing all your hearing for the sake
of a stereo ...

Plus, I believe in a sealed environment the deployment
time is drastically increased and the total volume is decreased.

Im confused

When he closes the door he feels his ears pop but both the air bags going off at the same time, releasing a high volume of gas in a few milliseconds WONT be a problem ???

It may be just fine BUT they designed those holes theer for a reason - You might consider adding sound deadening to the trim panels covering them or cover the top half of the vent and leave half uncovered...

And as coldie said wear lots of deodorant

Doug

I'm with Doug and Cliff on this one.

With the amount of sound deadening you've installed, leaving the vents uncovered for safety sake would be a wise choice.

The vents are covered by the back panel anyway. You won't hear any more noise with them uncovered.

Please reconsider leaving the vents open.

Bob
