Lower A arm Ball Joints
Lower A arm Ball Joints
My passenger side lower ball joint is squeaking, I looked on the ford cd and it just says to replace the lower a-arm, if there is a problem, and proceeds to give the removal for that, but when I call ford parts online they say the ball joints can be purchased separate, so that’s what I did, they should be here shortly, but can the ball joints be removed, im assuming just a press is needed for removal, has anyone done this..

My 2001 supercrew started squeeking two years ago. I checked the ball joint and it was tight. I jacked up the truck took the nut loose and droped the spindle from the ball joint removed the rubber boot cleaned the old grease and rust out with brake parts cleaner, repacked with molly lube reinstalled boot, and has been perfict ever since. I did both sides in less than an hour.
Maloni,
it will probally be about 110 120 for both sides, i got the energy suspension bushing kit at about 70 for the kit, and the ball joints were 40 some for both, i just have to make sure the ball joint is user replaceable. worst case an entire new a-arm with ball joints and bushings are 75 for one side and 90 some for the other, but you get the factory rubber bushings not the energy suspension poly ones..
