I have the same thing since I bought the truck 45,000 miles ago. Mine is a 2000L. It is the oil pump. Don't sweat it.

It's the oil pressurizing the system again. Mine does it for about a second or two then quiets up.

My 01 just started doing it this year (42K miles). I used 5w20 (Mobil 1) last oil change about 6 months ago! Goes away when warm so I guess I won't worry about it...still don't like it though! I think I'll go back to 5W30 next oil change probably this weekend and see if that makes any difference. I don't recall hearing the "rattle" when I was using the 5W30!

Isn't this what Ford calls Piston Slap? I have the same knock on my 2003 w/29000 miles.

Yea, probably the same thing! No one likes to hear "rattles" coming from the internals whether it's rod or piston related.
