Changing Rotor
Changing Rotor
Hey all, well I am putting Power Slot rotors with hawk hps pads on my baby, all the way around. I have the front rotors off and my new ones wont be here till wed. I have some questions and am looking for some best practices advice.
Questions:
Should i take my dust/heat shields off?
Should i get new berrings?
Should i clean off the spindle?
What kinda grease should i use?
Should i change out my brake fluid? If so, how do i do that?
Advice:
Please feel free to comment on any part of this...i have never changed brake pads let alone rotors before and could use any and all advice and instruction.
Thanks

Should i take my dust/heat shields off? Not unless you just want to.
Should i get new berrings? Only if your stockers are worn. You should use new bearing seals though.
Should i clean off the spindle? Definitely.
What kinda grease should i use? Any name brand synthetic will be fine.
Should i change out my brake fluid? If so, how do i do that? If your fluid looks dark in color or smells burnt you might consider changing it.
To change your brake fluid start with the wheel farthest from the master cylinder and bleed it while adding fresh fluid to the reservoir. When the fluid comes out clean then go to the next closest wheel, repeat and so on. It's best to have a friend to help add fluid and press the brake pedal for you.
