Prefered year L?

I am currently looking to purchase my first Lightning. Wanting to
buy anywhere from 2000-2003 model. Any suggestions on a more favorable year and what the pros and cons are? Thanks
for any input.

03-04 are the best cause they have all the lil problems worked out. but they sit high so u would have to drop them a bit.

I always liked the 01-02 for the wheels. IMO those were the best wheels.

03-04 with '99 wheels.

99-00 had less power, 4 spark plug threads, and leaky intercoolers.

01-02, had the weakest connecting rods and ugly rims.

03-04, Ford fixed the spark plug threads (no more spitting sparkplugs) however, they seem to run very lean from the factory. I think they went back to stronger connecting rods.

Caveat:
Everyone argues about the strength of the connecting rods. A majority of people believe the '99=00 are the strongest. Including my tuner.
It is belived that in 01 Ford changed manufacturers and that resulted in weaker rods. NO ONE knows for sure.

Well spill it then.

What proof do you have that one year's rods are better than the other? It's important information for sure, and I'll love to hear what anyone has to say about this topic, outside of conjecture and inference, that is.

I've got an '01 and now I'm terrified I'm sitting on a timebomb here. I've never heard this about the weak rods before today.

The 5.4L rod (all except 2000 Cobra R and Ford GT) hasn't had any strength changes since 1997. I have seen the finished print, the rough forging print, the material spec, and the engineering spec. The supplier has always been Metaldyne .
