New guy on the block

Picking up an 04 lightning by the weekend. Not sure if it comes with a tow hitch. Any brands you recommend? The truck is at a dealer and not local to me. Pending my approval on the vehicles condition, I am going to buy it. i need to tow a 4000 lb race car and open car trailer combined.

Also, looking to increase the power ASAP on my lightning so no stock lightning can beat me. I love modding boosted cars, but looking for something very basic. I know a pulley and exhaust will wake up the truck. Any vendors that are good to work with? I am picking up the truck and want to mod instantly.

Thanks

They come with a tow package. If it was removed you can get one cheap from another L owner that has removed it. I pulled my enclosed 20 * 8.5 with no problem with my L.
LFP and Chickenears have both been good for me as far as parts.

Hey:

Congrats on the truck.

You will enjoy pulling with the Lightning. I got rid of my enclosed trailer and dually to downsize to a Lightning and an open trailer, and I was nervous about how well the Lightning would do.

I am super pleased with how well the lightning pulls. Acceleration, brakes, and sway are all way better than I had thought they would be. Additionally, the truck/trailer combo is vastly easier to get around gas stations and parking lots with. Now if these Dodge guys would quit doing ricer fly-bys while I have the trailer on...

Welcome to the board!

Steve

Well you want some easy power here is what you should do.

Chip or programer- Highly recomended if your addind a lower pulley.
Intake - Wakes up the s/c whine and might give u a bit more boost
4lb pulley - more boost
Sparkplugs - due to added boost
FTVB-Factor Tech Valve Body for the transmission. Hard shifts, extends tranny life
Exhaust? - you dont really need it, our exhaust is good enough for your power, but if u want a louder exhaust by all means go for it. It will free up a few more Hp but no as much as the other stuff.

Oh and welcome to the board! Our trucks come stock with a trailer hitch, now whether it was removed or not you will find out this weekend.

BTW, if you are near JDM, JLP, REM, (these are three big engine tuners for the lightning and know what they are doing) id suggest talking with them in person, im sure they will hook you up with all the stuff u want or need.

Welcome to the Familly

Since you are in NY JDM, or PSP would both take good care of you, I chose JDM, but @PSP is great too.

Hey tell about that 9 second race car??

Don

9 sec 4 banger hu

Welcome Gary

Where in NY are you ??? Lots of us L's out in Nassau and Suffolk County, (Im in Suffolk). Sal (PSP) is in Suffolk County too, he can do any and all you can think of as said.

Filter-Chip-N-Pulley is ALWAYS the main moves, (instant 12 sec ET's are usually acheived with this)

Congrats and WELCOME

Welcome! The L is plenty strong enough to tow what you need.

Hey all ,thanks for the great replies. I am going to keep the info handy if I get this truck. Right now, the dealer does not want my trade in. it is too risky he said. I have a 1998 911 Porsche. Its a bit expensive and worth more than the trade in, but book value was about 2-3 k less on KBB. All I wanted was trade in value. Dealer says he does not even see 911's in his part of town. LOL

Now I might need to back off the sell or wait, or hopefully my car sells soon, so that I can buy this lightning. My car is in the classifieds on the porsche forums with some people interested.

As for the 4 banger, its a Eclipse AWD turbo. Severe mods this year have gone into it to put it in the 750 WHP range. Made 600 Wheel **** power on an AWD dyno last year. Thats on the old setup with a t3/t4 turbo, no NOS and a crappy intercooler. I now have a full T4, 100 shot and liquid to air IC plus lost some weight on the car. I am looking for low 9's or maybe a high 8 if all goes well. Built a stroker for it too, but not in the car because I want to make the first event at english town in 2 weeks.

As for the lightining . My goal was the basic mods to get it to 400 WHP. Either way, I am getting one, sooner or later. I love the car along with SRT10. Hopefully the dealer does not sell this lighting before my 911 sells.

Thanks all!
