Fuel filter question - Jiffy Lube
I showed up with my own Motorcraft filter for them to put on but the guy in the pit yelled up at me that someone sold me the wrong filter at the parts desk "there's no way in hell this will fit in the clamp" So he took one off the shelf and gave it to me for free.
Does the Lightning use some special high flow filter or am I good to go if maybe he threw on whatever he could get to fit from the Ford truck filter shelf down in his pit?

As a little aside, in addition to the free filter, he didn't charge me for swapping it either. I was feeling pretty great about it, but I did notice the guy spilled ohhh, I'd say a gallon and a half, two gallons of gas while he was swapping them.
I heard it chugging away while he was changing it, and when I fired 'er back up I was down a pretty noticable amount of fuel on the gauge.
No such thing as free anything I guess.

Several years ago, a Jiffy Lube tech slammed the hood down on my brand new F-150 shoving a screwdriver standing straight up on the fan shroud right though the hood.
The manager of the store was a complete jerk about the incident and I had to hire an attorney and sue. The process took six months of hassle.

They left the air intake hose un-hooked from the air-filter on my 98 Chev,
They cross-threaded the oil filter on my 99 Lightning.
The Ford dealer wants $60.00 to change the fuel filter on the Lightning. They charged me ONCE, the first time I had it done.

First time I changed the fuel filter on my 2001 - parts place handed me the wrong Motorcraft filter - gave me the "big one" that some guys put on anyway. Parts place didnt know the difference - had two listed and apparently their catalog didn't note which 2001 F150 or F-150 Lightning took which - as it turned out I did know the difference because I happened to "look" first at mine - learned to do that many years ago after getting many "wrong parts" and having to take them back - whenever you can, check the part out first.
Ford Dealer nearest me - and SVT Dealer changed $85 an hour last year for "labor" - so I'd guess the "labor" on a fuel filter change would be about $40 - 60. Rhino Ramps are about $30 a set - pay for themselves on one filter change up here.
Well I do all my own work and had bought the tool for it, but when it didn't fit the fuel line my friend (the manager of that Jiffy Lube) told me to drive it over to his shop and he'd hop down in the pit and do it right quick for me.
Worked out OK in the end right?
Also, on the way out of the shop he told me to stop by next Sunday for a free cooling system flush and fill. I think I'll take him up on that. Don't see myself dropping the coin on that machine anytime soon.

it sucks that good service is so hard to get in general. last time i bought tires for my SUV the jackasses put 53 lbs of air in all 4 tires!! Took a trip right after that, finally had to pull over to find out why it felt like I was driving a train, then let the air out for about 10 minutes. sheesh...
*real* gear heads work on thier own cars. Anyplace, anytime, any weather, and a lack of tools won't stop him/her either.
Why in the world would a "car guy" go to a place where entry level wages are paid to "techs" deserving of those wages?
If your not a car guy? Fine. If your not physically capable? Fine. IMO anytime you take a car in for "service" and try to take a cheap route your getting EXACTLY what you paid for. Cheap service.
(I'm not defending dealership prices or quality. They generally are not worth it either)

If that's directed at me, I feel like I've already explained why I went to Jiffy Lube. But here's a better run down.
I have Muscular Dystrophy and I can't do too much to my vehicles if it involves getting down on the ground, I have a hard time getting up without help. So, I bought the filter and tool and my friend was going to do it for me in my garage.
Even though the tool was the 3/8" size everyone says to get, it was too large to fit under the fuel line fitting. He told me that he was just made manager at his Jiffy Lube and can do bascially whatever he wants there, so to just drive over to the bay and he'd do it real quick in the pit for me.
Even with my disability I've done every single thing that I don't need to get on the ground for, to all my vehicles, past and present. From custom sheetmetal intake mani. installs, cam gear and cam install and lashing on my Focus (previous car to the L) full nitrous install and wiring with custom switches etc... (with all the goodies - purge, heater etc...) and the list goes on and on and on. That's not even the tip of it all. I designed and installed a custom car computer running windows XP with a color touchscreen interface from the ground up and fiberglassed the screen in and wired the whole thing up with no help. I do what I can.
I'm not trying to ****wave here but you basically called me out for no reason in a simple thread where I asked if the filter I got for free was good enough.
