is my mph low?

Ok, i've been to the track 2x. the first time it was 85 degrees and humid out, and my best was 14.0 at 97. At full weight. stock truck except for JLP cai. This time around it was 55 dgrees, and I had the added weight of innovation tonneau and about 40 extra pounds in the cab of miscellaneous stuff. Best run was 14.1 at 97. I know it had 13s in it because I couldn't hook for crap and my best 60 was 2.23 (last time it was 2.04.. all on toyos) Is my mph low though? I haven't heard of any L's trapping below 99? mine's a 2000 by the way. What do you guys think?

well just to give u my comparison, i have a chip and intake, and my best time with those is 14.0x at 99.98 mph. Next time i do go to the track though i plan on running the truck without the chip. Your mph does seem just a tad short though.

When I first bought my L last May it was 100% stock with a 150# bed cover on it. In humid 90* heat it was running 14.0s @ 97mph with 2.0 60fts.
Took off the cover and ran 13.8s @ 98mph in the same weather. I ended up running a stock best of a 13.58 @ 100.80 with a 1.90 60ft in 65* weather.

Added a 4# lower, dyno tune, filter, plugs and slicks and ran consistant 12.6s @ 108+ in 50* weather.

when svtpete got his truck it had an anderson motorsports intake and bassani x pipe w/ 2 spintech mufflers. The best we could run was 14.0 @ 100 (me driving) I don't think the 60 fts were too good though, prolly 2.1-2.2, and the temp was 65-75 i think. Oh, it's a 2002 also. yours doesn't sound too far off. my other friend w/ a 2000 L was runnin 14.1-14.3 with JDM intake and 20" rims.

hope this helps; peace

Well just for a little more comparison.. when i bought my truck (used) i took it to the track that weekend.. i ran about 6 times and times are 13.7-13.9 all right around 100.00... after i got used to the truck alittle bit more i was pretty consistant 13.7x at 100.9x... almost 101.00... my best time(last run of the night, cool enging, temps in the the high 50s, around 90% humidity run was a 13.5x at 101.9..... this was with a k&n drop in, and mac cat back... and a very unexperienced driver...lol...

you mphs dont seem too far off, what pressure are you running in your tires, and do you have your OD off... maybe if you are shifting into OD at the last leg of the run...????

I was at the track 2 weeks ago first time ever and ran twice.
First run was 14.02 at 100.54mph with a 2.28 60' second run was a 13.97 at 101.11mph with another 2.28 60'.
Those runs are with stock truck full weight with flowmaster cat back your mph does seem alittle low.

Keep in mind the pre '01 trucks start out down 20hp right from the get-go.

The mph looks fine on the pre '01 trucks in the thread but the ETs are suffering from poor 60' times, for sure. Anything above 2.0 has room for improvement.

You better get some more mods Birdy... or else you will be sucking 5.9 tailpipe.

It's all in good fun jon, I bet you can hit 13s with your current setup.

I have a 99L with (in Sig) 4#lower,RWTD SAFE tune, CAI, 100lb bed cover, 70lbs of stereo and 20" tires and ran a 13.1 at 103. I need to take the towing package off and the bed cover..put some slicks on and I think I should be about 12.8-12.9. Maybe better. This is just a comparison on what your truck can do

yeah i was at full weight with full air in tires, i still think that my mph should be a little higher. Prior to this track night I cut consistent 2.04s on the toyos... oh well. rob... chip/pulley coming in august... so watch out!

Cam/Rockers coming... sometime this summer, hopefully before you get your chip/pulley.

Mine is an 04, when it had 1100 miles on it, still factory showroom stock, was able to muster up a 13.67 @ 100.08 with a 2.02 60 ft time.

I have repeatedly heard that humidity and heat make a couple of tenths (probably same MPH) difference.

I agree. My best stock 60' on my 99 was 1.89. which makes a large difference on the top end. so if you are cutting 2.0 60" theres room for improvement.

How did you launch to cut that low of a 60' on stock setup? Like, what RPM did you hold it at etc... I thought I was doing great at 2.01

Very nice work!
