Went to get my L inspected and

Gave the dude a 50 spot and watched him beat the schitt out of some ladys new Infinity to get me a sticker

Mine always passes with flying colors, but here in NY they really put it to the test.

First they put it on the lift, cant with my bars

Then they pull the tires and check the brakes, mine suck

Check your tires, mine are bald

Then put it on the rollers for quite a while

@ 15-25 minutes in testing, besides the lift and tire/brake check

AS you know NO ONE touches my L, (other than Sal), last year I brought it somewhere I though I could trust and found out the SOB took it out and beat the schitt out of it @$%(@($%@#($$
THAT WILL NEVER EVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

So I had to pull up to the rear of the infinity so they could scan my windshield and point the camera towards me : o )
After seeing how frigging bad they beat that ladys cars up on the rollers, got dam I'm glad I didn't let them do it to mine. He had that thing screaming, I kept asking him "are you sure your not dynoing that thang"

I also found out, that very shortly they will be going to a new set up here in NY where all they have to do is plug into your test port, and that will be a much faster test. AMOF he said they just got the new set up the other day but it isn't on line yet.

Who knows maybe next year I'll actually let them do it......

In the mean time the Infinity did pretty good, hehehehehehe
Emissions Test Limits "HC 0.80"........."CO 13.00"......NOx 1.80
Emissions Test Results......0.10 ...................3.47..............0.26

Catback will be here Tuesday (THANKS AZ)
soon afterwards it will be installed and n20 Dyno'd,
AND THEN IT'S ENG TOWN TIME, WOO HOO...................

So you can get a waiver for $50.00 ?
I would not want the goobers at any inspection station taking my wheels off.
I see them playing nascar pit crew and lugs flying all over air gun slamming into the wheels. I see a nightmare.
We just have the plug in test for newer cars here, Thank God.

No wavier Bro

Just FINALLY found someone willing to fool the system.
They way they do it in NY is, any gas station can do it, but the machine has a camera, and you never know if the camera is on or not. NY State turns it on randomly to make sure everyone is being honest,"If" they get caught doing what that did for me, WAM they lose their NY inspectors license.

Before the Camera BS anyone would do it for a few extra bucks, but now they have to scan your Registration sticker on your Windshield, so the vehicle must be there at the machine, and as said it has a camera showing the test probe is in MY exhaust. Not many will take a chance anymore, but the new Girl I have working as my helper at work hooked me up with her boyfriend, and he seems to have been doing this for quite some time, so he knows the tricks, like putting the vehicles in a certain position, putting the machine in the right position (it's on wheels), and just block enough of the camera view, JUST incase it goes on.

The reg price is 37.00, (and it must be done every 12 months) so for 50.00 I thought it was well worth it. Of course the sticker, mileage, Vin # and records show it WAS done on MY truck

You should have the truck done just to see if it could pass.

I remember that emissions testing stuff. Is California still one of the toughest on emission standards? I have not been in Cali since the early 90s. I do miss the dry heat, but not the cost of living out in Sunny southern California. Of course Florida ain't getting any better!

The first step in getting someone busted for doing favors is when the person being helped tells someone about the endeavor.

Here they just check the basics like lights, brakes, tires, they even check your horn. Some places are real hard azzes when it comes to inspecting a vehicle, they will go over everything with a fine tooth comb. And those same places are real strict on window tint and if you have a tinted front window strip, it can only go down just a little way, and some places don't even look at your tint. The state made all the places that inspect vehicles buy a window tint tester,so I think that's why some places are so strict, there mad because the tester cost them big$$,so there going to take it out on everyone with tinted windows. They don't hook your vehicle up to any kind of emission tester. If you have a half way decent vehicle sometimes they just check your lights and then send you on your way.Up untill a couple of years ago it only cost $7.00 bucks once a year to inspect a vehicle, now they raised it to $12.50 a year to do the inspection. I think if you have a newer vehicle you should be able to go more than a year in between inspections, it's all about another way to get your $$$$$$.

here it is also $12.50 and they do everything mentioned above except they don't care about window tint. On my el camino once a place wouldn't give me an inspection because there was condensation in one of my headlights. But in my hometown of about 6,000 people the inspection places sometimes will just take the old sticker out and put the new one in that's it.
