Improved lower balancer?

I have seen something out there, but can find it now. My biggest question is it any good? I beleive it was SFI approved for the 10sec passes, and all. But, is it a good unit?

I've got one, it was installed when I got the built lower end. It is a B-H-J Dynamics damper. It has a SFI SPEC 18.1 if it is any good or not, is beyond me.

Casey,

There are a couple on eBay right now from Romac, but I don't know anything about them or their quality. There is a heavy unit at 7.75 lbs and a lightweight at 4.45 lbs and they both appear to be SFI approved.

Hum; I don't know about those. They look kindof "cheap"

I'd been looking at the BHJ ones:

Like that one. I'm just worried about problems people have had with them, and would like to avoid them if possible!

That was kind of my thought on them too. I keep hearing "you get what you pay for" rolling around in my head.

Even SBC balancers are spendier than that and you can get SBC parts at the local grocery store.

BHJ has been around forever, and used to sell only full-race balancers. Several years ago they started selling more street oriented ones. I had one on my 93 Mustang, and it was a quality unit. I'd buy one again for my L. They have great customer service too.

My buddy's 347 stroker in his 93 Cobra came with a BHJ (I had not heard of them at that time - 1994). If it's good enough for Ronnie Crawford and his Quarterhorses, it should be good enough for me

Not on my 'right now' list Mike. This should be easy enough to swap out down the road a piece.

The price that Casey found is pretty good though. The SBF unit I am familiar with ran for $280 about 10 years ago, so at least they haven't gone up!

I'd be curious to know what guys like Don, Dale and ChillFactor are running for balancers.

I run the BHJ unit on my motor, just a piece to the puzzle for when I try and make my truck legal at the track. -Mat-
