20" tires that wear better then F1's,

but have good wet/dry traction? It would appear that GY Eagle GTII's (treadwear 420 temp B, tractionA)would be a better tire that HP Ultra? Goodrich KDW's look good, good reviews on Tire Rack, but fairly low treadwear rating and are expensive $330 ea. Toyo Proxes ST for good wear, wet/dry? Know a llot of you guys like Nittos, but for some reason, I don't think quality is there--same for Sumitomo, Kumho, and some others? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong? Like I had to say that!

Many shops are showing 275-45's on 8 1/2 " 20's? Too narrow? 9" rims should take 295-45?
Thanks for any help. Need to decide ASAP.

If you have a Costco near you they sell the 295/45/20 BFG KDW2 for about $240 mounted, balanced, installed, and lifetime rotation, repairs, etc.

They also had the 295/40/20 BFG KDW for around $280. Differences between the two are obviously the sidewall, as well as speed rating and tread design.

Grip or long life. Pick one. You can't have both.

It's really that simple. No one has any magic formulas or tread designs. There are no secrets in the tire game.

zborn, thanks for reply-you too Tim

Looks like I may have to join Costco! Thanks for going to the trouble to list locations, but I would have found them. You went the extra mile to help.

Tim I agree that optimum perforce grip or long wear at at 2 opposite ends of the spectrum. My truck sees neither the drag strip or road racing track, so a "compromise" doesn't seem unreasonable? Guess it's no secret that tire companies made a lot of models for that middle ground?
