sti v's lightning? Anyone done it?

Theres this kid whos dad just bought him an sti. It's bone stock and he claims that he will walk anyone and he will even put a 100 bucks down on it. When my L is done this weekend the mods will be,

SBTB
CL Plenum
Ported Blower
Stage 2 heads
Tunner
it 22 plugs
4.10 gears
Bassani cats
Magnaflow catback
12" Power Stack
4# Pully
FTVB
60 Degree therm stat
58" Traction bars

Has anybody raced an sti? What was the outcome? What do you think it will be with me? Oh, im runing on 22's

Also what do you think my next mod should be?

Stock STIs run in the 13.0 range I believe. If you are running him on 22s, especially with 4.10s, you'll lose even if your truck runs 12.0s at the track. With the AWD, he'll kill you off the line and you won't catch up. On the track, that's another story. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe Silver-Bolt will chime in, he's got an STI now.

next mod? lose the 22s, then race him with some lighter wheels. you could take him if you can launch well enough to keep up as he will rip you out of the hole. try to get him to go from a rolling start.

They are nice cars. But I sure as Hell wouldnt be bragging about my I/C sprayer and everything delete interior if I was only going 13's w/ a 3000rpm launch if I owned one.

actually when they first came out, radio's werent available. I think it's been a new option lately that you can get one with it. Pretty stupid anyway over 50lbs of stereo equip. I've raced one before when i had just a cold air intake. The kid couldnt drive, but the in gear pull was comparable/even w/ my truck stock w/ the cold air. I wasn't impressed, but again he couldnt drive, i just payed attention to how it ran minus his shifting/launching. Nice cars none the less. A guy around here has one, brand new, bone stock. He raced my friends turbo s2000, and even with a 6,000 clutch drop he stayed behind the whole time. On a side note, does anybody know a reputable tuner for a s2000? His car runs extremely rich.

Put the stock wheels back on and run him from a 20 roll. You'll walk him. You'd probably catch up to him if you went from a dig, but why play into his strengths?

At fontana California Speedway

I ran a 14.2 at 99.x MPH
STi ran a 14.1 at 97 or so MPH

They pull out of the hole fast but then we start to catch up through second and third.... then we lose them in forth. If u ditch the 22's ur gonna rape his @$$

If you have more power than I do (I assume you do, ported blower, Stage 2 heads and all) then I think I agree with Sal - without slicks, you are gonna have a tough time with traction. Especially with the stock tires and 4.10 gears - I can't get good traction now with 3.73's and less power than you have...

I would say, "run him"!! He's gonna eat you out of the hole but you'll catch him by the end of the 1/4!! I believe the AWD is HP eater on the top end for those cars. Plus, if he's not real experienced with racing(plus shifting), you have knowledge on your side.
I do respect the WRX STI's and SRT-4's, it alway's amaze's me how much HP they can get out of those little engine's!!

I raced one on I-95 about a year ago, darn thing was fast!! I was pretty much stock and he kept even space behind me to 125mph. I was pretty impressed!
I KNOW racing on the street it stupid, but I never said I was the sharpest knife in the drawer!!
