How hard to mount a hitch on an L?

Well, as some of you know, I just put a downpayment on a 99 L, but I was counting on towing my car back to NC with it when I picked it up, but it turns out this L doesn't have a hitch.... So how hard is it to mount a hitch?

It's very easy, 8 bolts and 4 nut plates. You can probably find a hitch off a Lightning fairly cheap, alot of people including myself have removed theirs.

Just tow it back with a garden hose.

Which way you headed to pick up the L???

Ever go through Greensboro or W-S???

Are you wanting a hitch to leave on, or just this one time pull? I took mine off---but don't really want to sell it for good.......

Headed North to Manassas VA to get the L, I'd like to have a hitch on it to stay really...

Would U-haul sell some for reasonable price? I'd have to rent a trailer from uhaul anyhow...

yes, u-haul does have them to put on
up here they do the work for a lot of the dealers
just call them ahead of time so they make sure that they have it when you come in

not sure about U-Haul for a reasonable price on a hitch. i'd see what Advance / Autozone has maybe. i've always been partial to the Reese / Drawtite hitches.

I've seen used Lightning trailer hitches go for $50 on NLOC. Go to NLOC's "parts for sale section", and post a WTB.

If you have some time. Try to find an RV shop. They will have hitches in stock and will be able to set you up if your in a hurry. Most can install right then and there. It's hard to sell trailers to people who don't have hitches. U-haul will probably do the same but cost more.

An FYI
U-haul would not rent me a car trailer to haul an 81 AMC eagle from Ohio to Kentucky, not even in state either when we bought an 83 AMC eagle for parts car. (I have an 03 L) So you may want to call ahead to make sure they will rent you a car trail. I had to rent a car dolly from U-haul.

A little research will get you the right hitch that bolts right up ....

I wouldnt want some hack drilling more holes when the factory all ready made the truck ready for a hitch ...
