Wierd Sound in the Engine.

I've got a wierd sound coming from the engine somewhere. I say somewhere cause I can't locate it. It sounds like it may be coming from somewhere around the radiator. The sound starts about 20 seconds after I start the engine and it sounds like a pump is kicking on, but not pumping anything. I've checked all the fluids that I can think of and everything is fine. It makes a low whining sound and when I shut the truck off it sounds like the a belt is stopping the pump and the whining sound dissipates to a stop. Does anyone know what this may be, or had anything similar to it? I've been having problem after problem with my Lightning and I can't afford another one. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If it is the intercooler pump...what kind of damage could that present to the engine? How much to fix?

That is similar to my problem. I have a 2004 and after 20 seconds after start-up it makes a 'rattle' type sound. I don't have the whine, just the rattle. It doesn't go away either and the dealer ship told me it was piston slap, which I know is not true. I am still lost to where my rattle is coming from. Let me know if you find the problem Damias.

Someone correct me if im wrong. But the intercooler pump is located underneath the radiator (look up from underneath the truck). The intercooler pump turns on 20 seconds after startup which could be your problem. I would suggest swapping it with a buddies to see if it stops. I know of a few that have had the pumps go bad.

Hey i remember now, its probably whining because you arnt putting any more antifreeze coolant in your intercooler since it has the recalled intercooler that is leaking....so the pump has nuttin to pump, that could explain part of the noise id think..
