Looking at buying a 99 L

I'm looking at possibly buying a 99 L, it's got 100,000 miles on it, seller wants $11,750 for it, seems to be in nice condition, it's for sale online, so I haven't see it in person or driven it... But the pics look ok.

Does this sound pretty good? Anything specific to look for on a 99 L, factory bugs etc?

Thanks!

I would suggest staying away from any 99/00 truck.
If this is what you are after though, make SURE the intercooler recall was done... that is the largest problem with those years.

Actually, the truck has a new engine due to the Intercooler prob.

The new engine has something like 10K on it.... Sound good?

Thanks for the replies so far

Stock Replacement.

It's been used as a Daily, I'm sure being an L it's been ragged on a bit, but it hasn't been to the track regularly.

Much better deal? 89k mile truck for $13k?

vs. 100k miles, for $11.7k. That's a wash to me. Then we find out the 100k mile truck has a near new motor. If its a clean truck with a new Ford motor, then there's nothing wrong with considering this truck.

I didn't have a lick of trouble with my '99. As long as the I/C has been replaced, it could be a nice find.

this link helped me decide to go with '01-up (nothing against '99-'00): http://www.austinsvt.com/lightning/gen2data.html

Gives you a quick of year-to-year changes/differences. The added hp/torque made me choose an '01 ('03-'up had the better heads but over my budget)

If they are left stock I suppose you can quote your horsepower and torque ratings all day.

However, once you start to modify........ those factory ratings are meaningless. Once you upgrade the 99 to a 90 Maf, your on the exact playing field as the 01 and up

99's are cheap. I am almost thinking of picking one up for a daily driver. Must be the compulsive obsessive behavior kicking in again.
Is one SVO good enough?, nope had to have two. Is one banshee good enough? nope, had to have two of those too.
