Manually shifting out of 1st @ WOT

I guess this would pertain mostly to street racers that want to hold 1st gear for a 1st gear punch then slip it up to 2nd/drive. But, when I try to hold 1st gear and punch it then move the shift it will not go into 2nd untill I let off the gas. Is this normal on everobodys truck that has tried it? I can be at 2500~3k RPMS and hit it; move the shift instantly(before it gets to 4k~4500RPMS and it still won't shift out of 1st till I let off.

I can do it any time I want in 2nd gear going to 3rd, but not 1st.

Just leave it in drive.

Manually shifting is hard on the bands and generally frowned upon.

The Key is to instantly manually shift to second gear once you punch it on first gear it will still shift to what it is programmed to do so... this is how i have beat so many Camaro SS and TA WS6's from a 20 mph roll. Well this is how I do it and it works just find on my L.

its fun just riding in a NA f150 with a 6 speed, especially around corners and stuff, an L with the same transmission would be a blast. I know in the 1/4 the auto would be faster. But putting around at 3,000rpm ready to go WOT with no wait is pure fun!

And exactly how mine is now with the Factory Tech Total Domination Converter

I love this thing, it's like a frigging stick shift without the stick I tell you. WOO HOO...........

I use to try to manual shift mine too Casey, but with no success,
I have tried to shift it immediately as Team SVT said, but I was still over reving. I found the best AND CRAZIEST shifting was achieved manual by stabing it in 1st, and then getting off it a mili-second while throwing 2nd, then stab it again (all within a mili-sec). However based on the insane and fun shifting acheived this way, I was convinced it wouldn't last more than a day, so I stopped doing it the same day I started to, hehehehehe

Now I dont have to, the losness of the Converter allows 1st 2nd and 3rd to act almost as a manual, even at 1/8 -1/4 pedal each gear will go up to at least 2.5 - 3.5 K without trying BEFORE shifting the next gear. If I hit it with 1/2 a pedal or more it'll go to 4.0 - 4.5 K before shifting.

(Sal also has the downshifts and upshifts tweaked to my liking after some test and tuning on the street ; o )

If I feather pedal it I can shift @ 2.5K, but look down at any time (outside of OD) and it's @ 3 - 3.5K. Stab it at ANY RPM in 1st or 2nd, and be prepaired to go sideways instantly

THERE IS A LOT YOU CAN DO WITH THE CHIP TO ACHEIVE WHAT YOU WANT IN YOUR SHIFTING

Either way as said, PUT IT IN "D"
SET IT AND FORGET IT, hehehehehehe................

That's what I am working on.... I think you understand better than anybody what I am trying to do I'll try it again, but before it didn't shift; maybe I didn't move it fast enough. Saturday will tell

Just keep trying it till you master it. Once you master it you can really scare the **** of ls1's from a 20-30 mph roll to about 110+mph. Then just get off it before they catch up to you.

Beep, Beep, Beep ....your gone and they are not.....

I have my rev limiter to 6K but my 1-2 shift is about 5700 rpms if it matters.
