Unhappy wot and ping, shift at the black line in red line?

99L I thought my lightning was stock, its not. it has a pro-m filter
and a pro flow maf. the temp sensor is stuck in the end of
the filter. the lower pulley looks stock. so my guess is the
injectors are. how do i check? I don't think it has a stock tune, it doesn't shift until the black line in the red line on the tack. then it has a quick dead spot hitting 2nd. I here no
detonation until 80mph and it reley kicks in at 110. I hooked a fuel pressure gage to it its at 40lbs key on engine off. at wot at 110mph it jumps between 48 and 50lbs,from what i here that is good. new fuel filter no different. under 4000 rpm no deto sound. i manually restricted the air filter
there was no power but also no deto at any rpm.the long block is new(stock) the stock blower is new. my boost gage goes
into the black over ten, is that normal on a stock pulley?
are the stock gages acruate? any one know the diamiter of a stock lower?

I know you cant diagnose anything with that info, how about best guess on what to try or buy? there are no tuners in my area that know what there doing. (so i hear)

ive been searching the forums with no luck.
thanks for any info.

roots style blowers especially eatons have a problem with intake charge temps being high... ford ays about 80-90 is optimum intake temp though most roots blowers are much higher usually in the 130-150 range. most likely sounds like ur intake temps are to high or the fuel curve in the tune is off.

Check your timing. Mine goes up a degree at the top of second and third gears, which if yours is, you need to retard it probably two degrees.

Yes, tuner or chip.

Do you have a chip installed? Look on the passenger side kick panel and find the PCM, see if there is a chip installed.
If not, then your PCM may have been reflashed!

I've never heard of a PRO-Flow MAF sensor. If you have a '99 Lightning, it came with a 80mm MAF. If it now has a 90mm MAF, you NEED to get it calibrated! TODAY!

I ran a 90mm for a day (installed it and drove to tuner) and he was YELLING at me and saying how I was incredibly lean and lucky I made it there. You NEED to find out if it is a 80 or 90. They have different sensors and measure the air different, sending a reading to the PCM to clibrate the a/f ratio and fuel tables.

The bottom pulley is a big hunk of steel! Most aftermarkets (if not all) are aluminum. You might have an UPPER pulley installed.

Take somepictures and post them.

Oh and that pinging you are hearing is detonation. that is the #1 detroyer of our engines. you need to fix that ASAP!

Luckily you have '99 Lightning with stronger rods than later years (of course this is up to debate, but I've never seen a '99 with broken rods, without major modifications)

You should get in touch with SHM and find out the details on the chip vs. the size of your MAF. If the MAF is larger and the chip is programmed for it you don't want to remove the chip if it's already pinging. Are you running 92-93 Premium?

If you take the chip out, the detonation should stop. You will be back around 11-12 degrees timing, and rich in A/F.

Pro-Flow is also known as Pro-M - currently in the process of going out of business.
