Intercooler Cleaning?
So I guess that the answer to my question is that the SC needs to be removed to clean the intercooler.
Another question in how do I really know that it needs cleaning. I bought the truck used so I dont know what it felt like new. I do know that it pulls pretty strong though.

Here's something that might be of interest.
I just installed a new long block. (Long story, ask my wife) Anyway the old engine had but 16,000 miles. To let you know I have had the L&S oil separator installed since Vince first introduced them.
Upon disassembly I was most impressed at what I saw. Really more amazed! I had read many a horror story about our oil in the intake problems. I was just imagining an oil soaked and caked mess! Below is a portion of a message I sent to Vince.
“Here's something you will be interested in. In removing the blower, intercooler and intake from my old engine. I took careful consideration of the intake. I noted that it had little and by that I mean may be a teaspoon of oil residing in the bottom. The intercooler was rendered spotless with only 1 can of brake cleaner being sprayed on and through it. The blower itself did not require but a cursory cleaning with Carb cleaner. In my opinion that is a testament to the effectiveness of your product. I want you to know I believe your separator is the best solution to our intake oil problem.
Here's wishing you more success with your endeavors to make our trucks even better.”
Regards,

Regards,
I am going to atempt cleaning mine this weekend. I have 40k miles and its never been cleaned so im expecting it to be nasty. How involved is it to remove the supercharger? Is there any thing that might give me any trouble?
Pete,
Other than about $125 in gaskets, it looks pretty straightforward.
I've been eyeing/digging/researching/asking questions of those having performed said task and will be turning wrenches in about an hour and a half. Full imagery and gotcha documentation of the entire process forthcoming.
Thanks for tips Silver_Y2K_SVT!!
Reference point:
03 Harley w/ 37K miles, mild mods, daily driven, rarely raced. Home Depot oil seperator since new (250 miles) and an L&S since last September.
EDIT:
Found a write-up I posted eleven months ago.

oops, 125 in gaskets and bolts.
They were bought as a precaution as this is an evolution that need not fall under Murphy's Law.
Blower and intercooler removed. off to VatoZone for misc parts and brake cleaner.
film at 11:00, or something
