Crank walk?

How much crank walk to our motors have? I just had a problem when my inspection cover was installed backwards. The tq convertor bolts were barley grazing the cover under real hard loads. I'm figuring that the convertor/flywheel were moving with the crank by about .015. Just enough for a push back cover to meet with the convetor studs.

Crankshaft end play in performance motors usually 5-7 thousandths. Your thrust bearing could be wearing.

Wow I hope not! It only has 16,000 miles on it!

Don't assume all the movement is coming from the crank end play alone. The flywheel will/can flex too.

That would make more sense. Crank walk + Flexplate movement + Incorrectly installed cover= the problem I had.
