After installing 58" torque bars....

After installing 58" torque bars....

has any one noticed a difference in first to second shifting traction? I have a relatively stock 01 with a chip and FTVB. It used to bark the tires shifting into second at 1/2 throttle or above.

I installed LFP traction bars in anticipation of futures mods. Now I have to have about 3/4 throttle or more to spin the tires shifting into second. I know with my planned mods this will change , but I wondered if any one else had noticed this.

I have had some problem getting the tirs to chirp, so they must be working.

Long tube bars act as a lever. They transfer the weight of the truck onto the rear tires there-by making them bite harder into the pavement.

I just installed my JLP bars last night and noticed the same thing.

I understand the concept and it makes sense that they would help during the shifts since the bars are "pre-loaded", but I have see numerous posts on this board admonishing people for calling them "Traction Bars" since they supposedly only help with wheel hop. That may be true from a dead stop, but they obviously help traction during the shifts.

Noticed the same thing too.
....and when you do spin em, its a lot more of a controlled experience.

I had slapper bars on my truck, but didn't like them for the exact reason above. I'd try to kick the rear sideways (on purpose) and the slappers would hit the leaf spring and the truck would jump sideways. I hated it!

With the JLP bars, it is MUCH MUCH more controlled.

Yep, thats a great explanation

I only drove around for about 5-10 minutes, I hope to get more seat time today and see what they are really like.
