Why would they do that?

They have turned their back on L's for years now, but addressed the problem on Cobras. I have complained in the past that 10 more HP and 1000lbs less weight deserve H-Beam rods and the L's don't? And, I'm now looking at my watch timing how fast somebody says the RPM's are why they put the rods in the Cobras.

My take? They knew that the Cobra motor would be screwed with.

Yeah - why would they do that?

They are only doing what the Lightning owners have asked for - smaller, crappier vehicle, more doors, smaller bed, AWD.

None of these Lightning owner have asked for a better built lower - what use would that be? That doesn't affect me going to take my 2 kids to soccer practice and stopping by World Market for the perfect imported wine for diner! The cute little bed is just perfect for my Pekinese and my poodle. Man good this sounds like something for H&G TV - how luscious!

WHAT A CROCK OF CRAP!!

I think I HATE the new SVT team (SUCKY VEHICLE TEAM)

Although I would take the new Shelby Cobra!

Herb

AGAIN:

Why would FORD create a completely new vehicle, and label it the "new lightning" when there is a loyal-rabid followers and buyers of the lightning.

Screw you Ford.

uhm no, it has a 5.4 4valve motor. not a 4.6

i'm suprised i haven't seen anyone post the question of the availability of the 4 valve intake and how easy of a retrofit it would be.

...actually it IS a blown 4.6... I'm assuming that since it is identical to the '03-'04 Cobra motor that it is the same thing.

I asked about the Manley's, and was told:

which motor is getting the best internals? the Shelby is listed as having Connecting rods Cracked forged steel I-beams , doesn't the old cobra motor have Manleys'? i know while the cobra guys were blowing half shafts, the Lightning guys were blowing motors

Ford only put forged Manley rods in the 03-04 because they were already behind schedule and could not afford to get the car out any later. If they had the time, crappy rods would have been installed.
