Looking for an Efan....

Who's got the best setup? For the best Price? And did you do the Waterpump too?

I was looking at the LFP setup, looks pretty nice. The fan on the JLP looks smaller than the rest, and the JDM looks good, kinda pricey though.

Also looking to get a Heatexchanger, I know these are somewhat worthless mods, but while I'm doing MAF and pumps I figured I might as well finish out the little stuff.

I saw that, but I guess I'm willing to pay to get the wiring harnesses, relays and whatever else I need.

Thanks though.

Got the e-fan for my HD F150 and will also get it for my L. OEM fit and finish, plug-and-play install and it has been a proven performer. My 2 cents

WB -

I have the Flex-A-Lite 270 on my L. Perfect fit, factory look, no drilling, uses the factory shroud mounting points.

Comes with all the wiring you need, but you will have to make the harness yourself with some loom.

I had originally installed it on my '01 SuperCrew and then I moved it to my L. Definitely a well made kit.

Should be able to get it from Summit or Jegs for $399 or so...

Here's a thread with a write-up I did several years ago... Flex-A-Lite 270 Install

I've got the flex-a-lite 270 as well.

It is pricey at $400 new. But I definately give it a
(there was one issue with a faulty fuse. If you buy a used kit ask about it's purchase date and contact flex-a-lite)

btw: Your 2002 water pump is the best. I don't recommend the "cobra" pump.

That is cheap! Curved blades too..

The flex-a-lite 270 flows 5500 cfm max, but has a nice controller that ramps the fan speed up based on coolant temps. I hardly ever hear mine from inside the cab.

Are you actually using this fan or is this just a recent find?

That look almost too cheap - like typo cheap.

I'm in San Antonio, Texas, where it is frequently hot and humid and the traffic here sucks - I see you're in Miami, so if it works there it should work here.

The flex-a-lite factory was on the local news a month or so ago. Workers were complaining that foreign made knock off's were cutting into their profits (employee owned company). That must be what they are complaining about.

FWIW, I can't see how an e-fan is worth 400$ it's a couple of motors, and a thermostat in a housing. The performance gains may be worth it. But the production costs just can't be that high.

I installed LFP's e-fan setup a couple of years ago. Everything was included, instructions were sufficient, installation was easy, everything fit, and it works well. I did install the aluminum pump at the same time, although I wouldn't particulary recommend it. I've never had any cooling problems, but I don't pull anything with it, and I have never driven my L for many hours in 100+ temps either.

I agree that the price is too high.

However it's more than just what you mention.
There are two motors, two fan blades, one large shroud that covers the entire radiator, aluminum side brackets, IC reservior bracket, temp probe, and thier nifty controller that lets you control everything and anything. The coolest part to me is that it ramps up the fan speed based on the temps. If I'm not mistaken all the other kits are 100% on or off?

Oh and it's AMERICAN MADE.

The price on all these kits is pretty high - and as noted before, you can make your own set-up much cheaper if you're a bit mechanically/electrically inclined or williing to take a little time and learn. Do some "search" on here for several guys who have done just that with info on "how to do" - literally duplicated the "kits" for considerably less money. For me - at the time I just wanted to "install it" and get it goign - so I willingly paid the price for someones elses work on putting the kit together.

The LFP's and JDM's setups just use a temp sensor to kick the fn on/off with no speed variability.

One "wrinkle" in my LFP kit, is that I have it wired up per insructions with the A/C relay - which kicks the fan on anytime I am using the A/C unit which is fine as you need the fan on to pull air through the A/C when idling along in slow traffic or at a stop light - but you don't need the fan on when cruising at about 35mph+ for proper A/C - but the e-fan is "on" anytime you have the A/C unit on at any speed, which at these higher speeds, you don't need the fan on - takes away from the advantage of the e-fan in not requiring any power to operate when cooling air not needed. Theres a "controller" you might consider in using, if using the LFP's or JDM's setup (I think it's MadFerreris "controller") that can be set for temperature, instead of just on/off conditions, so that as you're cruising on a really hot day, and don't like the windows down, you can have your A/C on, but the e-fan will be off for a bit better fuel economy.
