Who Else Owns a Turbo Lightning?

Hey Guys!

I was just wondering who else owned a turbo since I've only seen one, and that's with Sal's beast.

Thanks!
Tony

HI!... I don't own a LIGHTNING but I am currently working on building up a built 5.4 with a T76-GTS turbo. It will be installed into a regular F-150, shortbox, stepside that will weigh in at about 3800LBS.

I run a Turbonetics (T-91) Big Thumper Turbo with Air-Water Intercooler & a 383ci. motor. My truck should Run in the 8's this Year on 16# Boost.

Well I talked to kid the other day that "put a turbo" on his harley truck. He also said there are huge gains to be had if you buy a new thunderbird and take the pulley off that and put it on the harley/lightning trucks!

He only ran it once, and it was 1/8 mile, but he said it was fast, ran a 9.2.

Sorry, nothing sonstructive added here, just wanted to pass on my humorous story.

If you wanna here something humorous here's One for ya.
My Red Lightning went a 1.81 60' & I still ran 6.33 @ 123.02 mph in the 1/8 mile.

I have been thinking of going with a turbo, and have been talking to Crash about his setup.

I really want to go turbo as well but Im having a hard time getting any info. I emailed Sal but no response. Im either going to go turbo or put a Novi2000 on it. Would like to see the 3.3 Wishlle but I gave up on that 2 weeks ago.

i have yet to even realize the true potential of this blower. still running a stock block. were seeing 508hp and 469tq and it'll run 11.6's with a 1.7 short time. shifting at 6000rpm's and loving every minute of it. looking to turn it around 7000-7200 rpm's when the built motor goes in. the only way for a roots or screw blower to turn that kinda rpm would be to run smaler crank pulleys or spray it beyond the blowers power capable rpm range.

Now were talking. I wanted to send you a email or PM but for some very odd reason I dont see the option for PM's and it wont allow me to send you a email so Ill ask in this thread. What all mods do you have and how much boost? Also what numbers do you think youre capable of making with a built block and what youre rwhp goal for the future with what mods. I want to be able to rev up to 7000rpms also. My email is souljaslim4life@ aol.com I would love to get more info on your setup like what intake manifold youre using etc.

rdy2rac@comcast.net

the intake was custom made but i may switch it out for mondocooler setup. the stock intercooler just doesn't cool the airflow efficiently.

the short list
stepped longtubes w/ custom 3 inch exhaust
stage 2 ported head w/ oversize valves
monsterbox
custom pulleys
50lb inj. with fuel rails
fuel cell w/ 8an lines
Paxton Novi 2000 race blower
w/ probably over a hundred hours on the dyno

goals:
900-1000hp to the wheels
to run atleast low 10's consistantly but mid 9's is the goal
gotta step up the suspension though

Is the twin turbo kit going to be a "bolt-on adapter kit" for the lightning oem manifold/intercooler?

No, we're going to run the turbos AFTER the headers, run the pipes up thru the cab into a very large cooler and out the firewall to the motor. Kinda like the Pro 5.0 guys run.

We're using the Sullivan intake for the Navi 4v heads and building the kit custom 1off.

Ask Crash (Derek) about his kit though, sounds like a winner to me. We are a dealer for him on the turbo Lightning kit too.

Thanks for the detailed info on your twin turbo kit. Your results should be great! However, far into the future, I see a Whipple 3.3 twinscrew adapter kit for myself. ......just checking to see what "adapter kits" are up and coming for the lightning oem supercharger assembly.

I'm doing a 358" 4V ,(big bore X stock stroke) home made intake manifold with Garrett GT47-88 and Bell air to air cooler.
Stock CPU, Factory Tech trans and Yank converter, stock rearend.
Some weight loss but not much....I think I will finally get to that roll pan this year .
