best intake?

OK, I know I could do a search for this info, but I wanted to get up to date info from everyone, even people who may have recently purchased an intake, so dont blast me and say "use the search" please.

Anyways, I have an 03 lightning with only a bassani catback. I now want an intake. I am looking at the motoblue or the JLP. I think they both look like quality pieces. Or maybe the volant. I am open to other intakes also, but I like the looks of these. Any input will be appreciated.

Also, is it reccomended to get the plenum,(I think thats what it is called.) And is that the piece that runs from the intake to the s/c. I like those polished tubes. I know I need to learn the terms.

Also, if I get a chip now, does it need to be retuned each time you add something to the truck, ie. a pulley. Which pulley is it that everyone recommends first, upper, or lower,

I know its alot of questions but everyone is so eager to help. Thanks, Sean

like you said, more searching will find your answers. I have the JLP and i love it. Some mods you dont need a retune for but some you do. adding a 3+ pound pulley will require a retune. adding a cold air kit wont. definitely do a lower pulley first. The problem with adding an upper pulley first (a smaller one) will increase belt slip, because of less belt contact with the upper pulley. I'd go with either a 4 or 6 pound pulley and a tune set up for that from one of the supporting vendors here. hard to go wrong with that combo. should see low 13s/high 12s with that setup

Thanks birdy, now when you say a tune set up, is that something that someone has to do, or do you tell whomever you order the chip from what your mods are and they send it to yau all set?

Either one. You can get it mailed ordered and it good enough or go to a Tuner and have it (chip) dyno tuned

Check out JDMs new 108mm power pipe. I just got it on and it is awsome. Does away with the plastic mass air unit and nasty looking piece from the throttle body to the mass air.
