rock and a hard place
rock and a hard place
The company that i work for is letting me use there gas account for my personal vehicle wich happens to be my daily driven L. A couple tanks later my truck is running like crape, bogging at low rpm's ect...... The problem is that the gas station is some no name, probably the cheapest gas u can buy kind of place. I want to take advantage connsidering gas prices for 93 are approaching 2.50. Still waiting to drain the remaning gas and fill up with some mobile or something. Wondering if theres any kind of additive i could throw in each take to treat the not so great gas, and continue using it. Octane booster or something. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i would pour a few bottles in there
I'd suspect it's dirty gas rather than a low octane problem. Some stations just have a lot of crap in their tanks. When I was younger I could not buy gas at my father's service station because my truck would run like crap. After he sold the station, the new owner had to pull the tanks and replace them. They found out what I already knew- the tanks had been leaking for years and water was getting in them as well.
Change your fuel filter and find a different station. $50 per week for gas versus ruining your motor? Tough choice (not).

It's dirty gas not a low octane problem. I don't think there is anything you can do about that. Also since you already ran some thru the L you will probably need a fuel filter change. I would do it anyway, that I know for sure.

Toulene
Mixtures with 92 Octane Premium
10%...94.2 Octane
20%...96.4 Octane
30%...98.6 Octane
Xylene (117 R+M/2 octane) & Toluene (114 R+M/2 octane) are the most effective of the commonly available 'boosters' & can usually be found at paint supply stores like Sherwin WIlliams or Duron for $25 ~ 35 per 5 gallon can. The following is the most cost effective 'ratio' for using these products:
1 gallon of booster for every 3 gallons of pump gas
SOOoo for Xylene: (117 * 3) + (93 * 9) / 12 = 99 octane final mix
And for Toluene: (114 * 3) + (93 * 9) / 12 = 98.25 octane final mix
You also need to be sure and add ~0.5 ounces of a top cylinder lube such as Marvel Mystery Oil per gallon of booster. The lubricants normally found in pump gas WILL get diluted by the xylene / toluene & the MMO will bring it back up to spec. AN added benefit of running a xylene / toluene blend is that they are excellent fuel system cleaners & over a few tanks will remove 99.9% of any varnished old gas residue in the fuel system AND carbon buildup in the combustion chamber.
Keep in mind, you'll need to get a re-tune to take advantage of the extra octane, anyone dumping it into a bone stock ride & expecting to go faster will be sorely disappointed.
