Tuning a stock-block Magnum Powers

My nearest tuner has not even heard of a MP blower, but has tuned a few ported-blower trucks and at least one KB.

Ive read every MP post and timing post and so far looks like boost will be 16-18 w/4#lower.
W/ A/F at 12.0 , what are tuners doing about the timing?
Are the timing changes made thruout the rpms at wot ?
Or just the factory tables max timing locked?

Stock, I was seeing 13*, w/ Predator pulley tune 18* and no ping.
Should my tuner use the predator pulley timing tables and back it down or adjust the stock tables?

Anyone know how the big tuners tune? Ill be staying w/stock exhaust and 92Amoco gas.

I would say 14-16 for a street tune.

I feel 16 degrees is a maximum for 93 octane. With 92 octane, I'd back that number down to 14-15.

I get spark knock at 17 degrees and 93 octane.

Time for a mail order tune. Iam not a big fan of them, but it seems like that is your best option.

Your missing out on some power there...

you can safely run 19 degrees on pump gas with a stock engine/heads/cams combo and Eaton. You will make around 25-30 more HP running 19 degrees than 17 and tq will be right there as well.

**Disclaimer** you must have good fuel and good fuel filter to do so above.

Daily driven L's on stock engines/heads/cams/eaton combo are tuned by me to run 19 degrees of timing and then I give them 21 for a race tune, as long as they are running the right plugs (no brisks) and fuel.

As long as the MAF is nowhere near pegging, your good to go.

Also, tailpipe A/F's can be .5- 1.0 leaner than the vehicle is actually running, so if your 11.8 with a tailpipe sniffer, I would bet that your 11.0 or richer and are missing out on even more power. Only way to find out is on a real dyno with a wideband.

I cut this from another Lightning timing thread since this was so closely related to my topic (and no tuners have any advice
