Painted and Decaled my Calipers

I did the driver's side tonight, used Duplicolor's Caliper kit - $15 at Walmart. Great cheap mod in my book.

A question for anyone that's painted there's, did you paint the rear pad clips too? I left mine alone and I'm thinking it'd look better if they were painted.

Looks spiffy, I need to do it when I rotate the tires.

(Yeah: where did you get the neat decals?)

I got them from a guy on SVTPerformance.com

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...p?userid=12311

He runs a sticker business. I just sent him a PM about them and he told me how much (around $15) and where to send the money.

Do you all tape off and paint the calipers intact or do you disassemble them to paint?? Looks awesome!!

I taped off and painted on the truck. The Duplicolor kit uses a brush-on paint so it's easy to not get it everywhere.

And about the rear calipers, I already painted them, I'm just wondering if I should paint the big ol' clips sticking off the rear pads. They aren't painted right now and it looks a bit silly. They're huge and take up a lot of real estate back there. Not a lot of red behind the rear wheels right now.

Thanks for the compliments.

I left the clips alone to throw some contrast on there. I think if you paint everything red it looks a little sloppy and rushed. My $.02.

I used the G2 kit and was really happy with the results. I sprayed the calipers on my 01 and will never do that again, what a PITA.

The guy that made the stickers says he uses some 3M high temp vinyl.

Yeah, I had left the clips unpainted for the same reason, I didn't want it to look like I just slopped paint everywhere (also, people in the know would wonder why I had painted part of the pad) maybe I'll just leave it clean.

Weather today here in WA was beautiful, got on my bike and putted to Wally's World. Lo and behold they had the caliper kits.
There were also some open boxes where some glue heads had emptied the aerosol cleaner cans. They only had red and yellow but that's ok my Silver Lightning will be red and my yellow Mustang will be yellow. Will post pix if I don't botch it. Bootbox Thanx for all the good info

Did you have to do any sanding on the front calipers, or just clean and paint?
