So I finally got a chance today to get out and give my Lightning some tender loving care. Ever since New Year's it has either has been raining, I've been sick, or been out of town.

Thought you guys might like to see what my stock exhuast turned out like after I used a Flitz polishing ball and some Mother's Mag and Alluminum polish.

Turned out great --- cleanest and brightest it has been since I got the L back in September.

 

Good job looks ten times better then stock.

 

Sweet, I'll have to try some of that stuff. My exhaust is a mess.

 

I've been using Flitz for years on my stainless steel gun barrels.

 

Where are you guys buying your flitz? I haven't been able to find it in my neck of the woods.

 

I got mine at a gun store. If they don't have it they probably can order it.

 

That reminds me, I have some work to do on mine..........

I have been working on mine with aluminium polish but it is nowhere close to that. What do you guys use to clean the tips.

 

I wish I can get mine to look like that when I clean them.

 

Looks great Now I just have to find all the Flitz I had left over when I closed my gunshop.

 

Thanks for the complements! The key to the whole thing was really the Flitz "Buff Ball." The ball attaches to any drill and you can use it to polish just about anything.

I actually used Mother's Mag Polish first with the buff ball, then I went back and hand polished using Flitz.

This weekend I'm going to use the buff ball on my chrome wheels - with some Mother's Chrome polish.

Did you use the Flitz "ball" with the tips on the truck? How did that work? Did the ball touch the paint at all. I've been using Flitz by hand for a year but havn't tried the buff ball yet cause I don't want to damage my paint.

Flitz = good stuff!

 

I did mine last night by hand using never dull and blue majic polishing cream. Not quite there yet. But what a difference. The tips are starting to shine. I figure a few more applications should do it.

 

Yes, I used the Flitz Ball on the tips, it did touch the paint. No problems at all with that. Or do you mean did I use ball to polish the paint? If that is it, no I haven't tried that... yet.

If you're going to buff your car, the Porter Cable is the tool. I can't imagine 3 step waxing a vehicle the size of the lightning without it.
