Mickey Thompson slicks

Does anyone run MT drag slicks on a Lightning?

Its time for new tires , and I am checking around.

I cant afford to drop big bucks on 15 inch Bogarts so I am stuck with 16"

How makes them.
Are they slicks or radials?

Right now I am running Hoosier Slicks 28 x 10 x 16

Al, There would be no advantage to running the Hoosier 28/11.5/16 DOT slicks...they are actually the same size as your current tire...they are just grooved DOT's!

You might want to look at a larger tire for a larger contact patch such as these:

http://www.intercotire.com/html/cheater_slicks.htm

28/13.5/16 is a 1" wider tread than what you run now

A lot of guys run the 30/14.5/16 but on an 11" wheel an love them!

I run 28 x 10 x 16 Hoosier Slicks.
Never had a problem with traction.

I wouldn't use a wider tire than a 10.5"

Hoosier doesn't make a 28/10.5/16 for starters..it is a 28/10/16 slick or a 28/11.5/16 DOT...Both are a 10" tread width!

The M&H DOT that I suggested is 11" wide across the tread which is fine for Al's 10" wheel...

Hey Al,
I run the M/T ET Street.
I'm looking to make a switch too.
Let's swap tires at Cecil next month and do a comparison.

I like these too Al I think they would work nice with your truck for more traction. If you want to go 11" wide for the 30" remember Mike runs 30" and so does Joe, Think you might like them too. The M&H 28" tire would be worth it to throw on your current 16"s. I would think about a convertor for the 30's though, PI 2400 is the way to go.

Like these 30's for you too Freddy, Good for anyone who is where you guys are at and needs that little taller tire but doesnt want to shave calipers.

JimIII

I was told the guys in TX that run the 30/14.5/16's run 16x11 Bogarts, by Jim Sr.

But, I know Bogart will make custom widths and backspacing.

BTW, most people do not use tubes, even though the manufacturer recommends them.

Actually I was just thinking you would have to have a 10" wide rim with at least a 6" BS to not look funny or stick out too far. With a truck like Al's that has American Racing Bajas that only come with a 4.5" BS they might stick out too far for the likeing.

Just FYI
