Heat Exchanger Question

Okay, so I dont have a FORD or a Lightning. I do have a supercharged Silverado with a 5.3 and wanted to know about upgraded heat exchangers. FYI; It is the same Eaton MP112 that Lightnings run with the air/water intercooler.

What type of aftermarket performance heat exchangers are you guys using? I seen the JLP one and just want to know what yu guys are having the best luck with.

Also, what type of IAT's are you guys seeing?

Thanks in advance.

Yea, AFCO. I think RPMoutlet sells them.
How fast is that charged 327 in the 1/4?

jayz01, Yeah we like to see how quick that thing is. Please give some links to pics, vids, and timeslips!

IAT temps measured about 2-3 inches upstream of the intake valve is around 130F for the guys running overdrive pulleys.

Many of us have ported the blower which reduces these temps and increase boost (same pulleys).

Adding mass (fluid) and fans to the IC system will always help to reduce temps. As far as exchangers go.. aluminum vs steel or plastic will radiate heat better.

Truck dynoed 370rwhp and 390 rwtq just with the charger @ 5lbs of boost. 3.6 Pulley.

Ran a 13.72 @ 99.28 w/ 2.01 60' with headers and Magnoflow mufffler and ET streets. 5 lbs of boost on this one. Remember, this is an Extended Cab 4 door truck. Weight unknown right now, but assuming around 5300-5400 pounds with the stereo system and metal tonneau cover.

I have added E-fans, 180 t-stat, volant intake , 3.25 pulley (about 7.5 lbs), and ATTEMPTED to get a dyno tune. The IAT's climed past 180 and I couldn't even get a full run. It was also like 90 degrees outside which didnt help.

So now, new heat exchanger, meth injection, and 10 lbs of boost.

Thanks for your help guys!

you might want to add some SPAL fans to seriously increase cooling efficiency
