Question Stiegemeier port?

Hey, has anyone had their blower come back from porting with the rotors flaking worse than when it was sent in??

You mean like they aren't the same ones you sent? Why would they touch the rotors?

They have to remove the rotor pack to do the porting right?

That's true. I meant they is no modification to the rotors.

Zem,

I'm wanting to send my out for porting, any update at this point? Have you contacted Steg to find out what went on?

Would you recommend using them at this point?

Zem,

You should contact Bob or Robyn at Stiegemeier about your issue. I've had nothing but great customer service from both of them.

To anyone else looking for a quality port, I highly recommend Stiegemeier. I'm running one on my '04 with a 4lb pulley and all I can say is it's

In hot (90 + degrees) conditions on a dyno (no fan running on the truck either) my truck put down 408 rwhp/480 rwtq. This is on a very conservative PSP tune (13 degrees timing on pump 91 octane). I'm impressed to say the least. I'm very confident on a cool day (40 to 60 degrees) it would have put down 415 + rwhp and probably close to (if not over) 500 rwtq.

They said they would feather in the edges of where the flaking is, rather than stripping it. I should get it back pretty soon, and will let you know what it looks like. When I sent it in it had only 3 tiny areas that had just began to flake, so I can only imagine what it will look like when it comes back??

Zem,

I'm surprised you didn't do the core exchange on your blower, like I did. I didn't want any down time on my truck, even though I hardly drive it as it is

They charge you like $700 for a core charge and you get it back once they receive your stock blower. I got a blower off of an '04 with hardly any miles (less than 5,000). The rotors were perfect! My stock unit I sent them only had 1,500 miles on it but had some rotor flaking (pretty minor). All in all, I'm pleased with the experience with Stiegemeier.

Why do some Eaton Rotor packs have paint flake?

It appears to me that there was a large run of rotors that were coated with a specific paint that did not stick - Once the paint starts to flake its a Progressive problem.

When this coating loads up under the rotor edge it can cause case damage. When this starts to occur I recommend stripping all paint off- We have done this many times with no problems. We charge $50.00 to strip the rotors but will feather them (N/C) for you if you choose not to have us strip them. We always consult the customer with any of our concerns or suggestions before doing anything extra

just do what i did.... take out your rotors and snout and send in the houseing. that way you know nothing will happen with the rotors, like getting swapped.
