Oil in Air box?

All,

I found something strange in the air box of my '04. I noticed the back corner had an oily substance on the cover. When I opened it up, there was definite oil on the cover and up towards the sensor and intake tube.

How would this get here? I want to make sure it doesn't come back.

Thanks,

Shaummy

If it's getting on your filter,

Search for my PCV elimination guide, or get yourself a PCV oil seperator kit, many are avalible. Personally, the only sure way of eliminating oil is venting your block to atmosphere, and I don't mean by way of pitching your rods through your block.

OK...so forgive my ignorance that I didn't know that was what happens.

So since you already think I'm an idiot...any chance this is a warrantable item/issue? My L only has 18K miles on my '04.

Thanks

Don't take it that way.. this has been throughly discussed many times.

Oil seperators, filters, L&S contraption, Dime Mod, Dime mod with Hole in it, swanson kit... we've tried everything to prevent oil from getting in there.

This is simply the way FORD designed the system. It is working the way it was designed, it just wasn't designed correctly.

I'm using a combination of the dime mod with a hole in it and a oil seperator. I'll let you know in 5 weeks when I pull off the s/c how it worked.

The dealership will simply clean out the rubber boot and MAYBE the intake.

The problem lies where that oil ends up. It is coating your innercooler! That will make the innercoller less effective at removing heat generated by the eaton supercharger.

At the beginning of the season (for us in MICHIGAN) I remove and clean the innercooler spotless. Kinda a ritual!

Anyone had an issue with the manufacture warranty for the 04 L's after adding an oil seperator kit?

guys,

I realize that this is the way it was designed..but I don't know if you can say that Ford "designed" it to dump oil out the air box.

I was hoping that there would be some sort of TSB or something to help take care of it.

I know there are ways to combat it with all the different mods...however, I bought a $35K vehicle and I expect it to perform without these kinds of issues.

Heck...I have a nearly 40 year old Stang that doesn't shoot oil out of anywhere at all.

Hoping that there would be some recourse with Ford on this.

Thanks for all your help..I appreciate it.
