Question about 100 octane gas

I found a gas station near my house that sells 100 octane Cam2 racing gas. Does my chip need a retune for this gas or can I run it the same as I would if I put in 97 from Mobil? And will I notice anything performance wise?

No gain in performance running the higher octane fuel with your tune as is, but wont hurt it either. The gain in using race fuel or higher octane fuel is being able to run more timing and or boost with out detnation or pre-ignition of the fuel. The higher octane fuel basicaly just has a higher flash point therefore effectively guarding against pre-ignition or detnation. So you must have your tune changed or add a race program ie a program with more timing to see a gain.

actually he'll lose a bit of power won't he? Higher octane means a slower burn, so the flame front will be hitting the piston a little bit later resulting in less power. Is that thinking incorrect?

Safer though.

Possible there could be a very slight loss. I always throw some high octane fuel in when I go to the track even if its just my street tune that is being used. Ill take they very slight loss if any for the added protection.
