Interesting results at track

Well, I went back to Irwindale after an 8 month hiatus to test a couple things. 1-Toyo Proxie traction 2-power after running spark plugs for 45k miles.

Well, I was very suprised at the traction I got from the Proxies. I hot lapped the first run with full pressure, and got a better hook than I ever did with F1's. I babied pretty good out of the hole with a 1.99 60'. 8.39 @ 84.5. Ok, next pass I leaned on it a little harder for a 1.9 60'. 8.31@85.1. I'm like, ok I'll push these tires. Well last run 7:30 pm, temps cooling to 60-65, I was racing a caged civic with slicks sticking 4" out the front fenders. Usually best traction is had this time of night. I leaned on her hard, up in smoke. FRUCK! Peddled, but too late. Lost to this got damn go cart. Pissed off, drove home.

Conclusions: Toyo's performed equally if not better for me at full pressure, big burnout (for fun only), than F1's ever did. Very suprised.

For power, I pulled some old slips from 2 years ago when my plugs were fresh. I ran an identical time as last night for a pass(although the air was probably 10-15 degrees warmer in the past). So I am losing a little power, but it's negligible on the street and you can't feel it SOTP.

Now that's a solid tune to run the same plugs for 45k miles!

This might help a couple people wondering the same things I was. Track tested and all.

Most fun of the night was racing a C5 on the street, realing his ricer fly by in from 20 to a 100! Nice pain killer for the last strip run.

Oh, one more thing. Best run out of the truck back when the plugs and tune were new was 8.26 @ 86.1 mph, 1.88 on F1's. This was the late 8 pm run with temps around 65-70. The last run last night might have put me close to those numbers with a little less peddle at the start. Nearly identical track and temps. Another plus for the plugs and tires. Proxies are wearing much better also with the harder compound.
